we stilll are around, I race competitively most weeks in stock

they are a great car for a semi serious racer, mine is only being beaten by a pro4 and a xray at the moment

For a beginner in RC racing would you recommend the TB02 or the TA05? Hobbyco has the TB02 for $169 AUD or I could get a TA05 of Ebay for $180 AUD. Is one car better than the other or are they much the same for a beginner?

Absolutely the TA05...You can get them from Speedtech for $125. Their on track performance will rival just about any of the high end stuff..ie JRXS-FK05 etc.

I have a son who is 8 now and I want to get him his first sedan. I have been looking at the TT01's and the TA05. He has driven before but not in competition. With this in mind I want something as bullet proof as possible so he can get the max wheel time on carpet this winter. My thoughts are that a TT01 chassis looks more simple and possibly more durable for a beginer than the TA05. What are your thoughts fellas?

The TT01 is a great car, but does have a weak link. The front caster blocks are extremely weak and you need to buy an entire parts tree to get new ones. I would go with the TA05.

LOL I had my fingers crossed that you guys would say that. I'm a racer at heart and I'm dying to get him the TA05. All he cares about is that it be the Ferrari body! LMAO Thanks

I was just kidding. I already have a set. I ordered a set when someone else ordered some. Who knows, maybe I'll try them out on the tb02 and see what happens.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I bought a TB02 ($169 at Hobbyco) for my son and a TA05 ($177 of Ebay) for myself. I thought the TB02 may be a safer bet for the young bloke bashing around on the road - we have a lot of gumtree debris that might snag the belt drive. Hoping to race both in Sydney after Christmas so I'll be trawling this forum for hop up and set up info for both cars.

Now I just need to go out and buy radios, speed controllers, batteries, chargers, paint.................. my god what have I done?????

I won't be taking it over from him for racing but I can see me getting my own for the TCS race in Mmephis this coming year.
