Asphalt setup for Associated RC18R racing
 
I would like to see, or hear from what you might be using on setups for onroad racing with the RC18R.

Found a few truck setups, but interested in setting it up for onroad asphalt 140x70 size, that is pretty bumpy, and traction not being high.

I've used this setup on a large outdoor asphalt track that was treated with traction compound and the car worked very well.

I know there have to be a few out there that have taken it half way serious and tried to set their RC18R up to race on asphalt.

We have the T and B versions at the track where I go, and they are basic setups, so not much to them and usually people that are new to racing.

I would like to see more of what you might have for a GOOD setup with a stock chassis, but with better motor and battery.

up front i ran 40wt and black 1/12 sptings with 1.5 coils cut 1 oring limiter inside with 1 dergre of camber

rear 45wt and gold AE 1/18 front springs 1 oring limiter inside and 1 degree of camber

5mm of ride heigh

I'm not sure how much help this will be since we run on a small to medium sized (60 ft. straight away) indoor carpet track. After much testing with various setups including aftermarket chassis (GPM, 3Racing, Exotek, & stock), different shock positions, & tires (stock AE rubber, AE foams, & 3Racing rubber), we found a good setup to be using the stock chassis with stock AE rubber tires while using AE RC18T front gold springs. Keep the chassis fairly low to the ground about 3-4MM ride height, use middle shock tower position for the front, use inside shock tower position for the rear, & use the Niteline or GTZ body since they are the lowest if not try to lower your body as low as possible. These changes seemed to be the best overall for everyone and also kept everything affordable. You can change the shock oil to somewhere around 40-50 wt. It does help a little. We found that there is a maximum speed to which the car can go before it gets way to difficult to control. Running a 2S lipo on the stock motor is already more than enough power to run on our track, so mod motors and brushless setups require some slowing down of the car via the throttle EPA on the radio.
