CS-27 on carpet

What insert/rim combination do you use when running the CS-27 on carpet? Do you tend to use hard or soft rims...

Thanks,
IH

I use the stock insert that comes with the tire. Everybody I know uses the same thing with the take-off CS-22's and CS-27's. The stock inserts are the best.

Yeah, I like the stock inserts too, though I do add one thing before I glue them. I like to take some strapping tape(like what's used for taping batteries into a pan car chassis) & put a layer inside the tire before I put the insert in & mount it up. The tape seems to fill the little gap between the tire & insert, so the insert doesn't bunch up much at all(seems good to make 'em last a bit longer).....

Which non-smelling tractioncompound do you think is best for the CS 27 on carpet?

Jack the gripper is pretty good. There maybe something better.

Depends on the guy that running the track. At HobbyWorld in Gilroy, Ca. only "Jack the Gripper" is used only. STRC in Stockton only uses "TQ Orange". You should ask what brand to use on their track, every track will use different brand of traction compound.

Yeah, even though it's not quite odorless, I do like TQ Blue(it's made specifically for sedan tires), it's not nearly as nasty smelling as Paragon, & it actually seems to work better than Paragon in most conditions......

jack the ripper is what we ve using on carpet here in florida and you can also use tq orange it works too. you might want to try wd-40 as well (i know it sounds wierd) its an old schooltrick and its what we ran at the national in colorado.

Where do you find TQ Blue?

Grizzbob 09-08-2003 05:09 PM

Any major hobby shop that carries any traction compound should have some or be able to get it for you.....
