hmm. I think it would run just like a a 1/12th car power with a battery pack mh racing a 4.5 brushless motor or 8 double brushed motor. Very fast!

Danny when can I get a few packs to use and race? I hear you are releasing early to select few?

After running some 12th scale today, I really look forward to running this sort of battery in the future. Hopefully, before the end of the winter season.

There is a pretty serious guy testing this battery locally, so far I haven't heard anything negative.

The future looks bright.

With the winter season just around the corner for us up here in the great white north, and me just getting into LIPO's, I am really interested in seeing this happen. I can't imagine trying to run a 12th scale on 6 cell power, even though we did back in the late 80's and early 90's. They would be way out of control fast today.
Any idea when these batteries will be available??

I think you misunderstood the lipo situation for 12th...
you will have less volts than a 4 cell "round" battery pack.
The output vuoltage would be 3.7 nominal or 4.2 peak.
But I love what lipos are doing for making maintenance way way easier,
let alone the onslaught of brushless motors.
I Hope there will be a class of 1c 5700mAh and whatever motor makes the 10R5 and other cars like it fun. Something like 7.5L Velosity.

I dont want ppl to come and ruin this new GT class or 12th.
which is where the foam tires belong ... not on T/C 4wd cars!

I think ovaldude nailed it on the head, going back to 6-cell voltages like in the '80's and '90's would be too freaking fast for any of the monster motors we have today. 3.7V would be a good reset for speed and the motors like 13.5's and 10'5s would be back in action and so would all my pinions from 25~45

IMO 21.5 with 7.4V LIPO was a quick coversion for the LightModified racers but nowhere close to being a solution for stock and superstock racers.

tone it down, John St Amant
no one was disagreeing with running 3.7V lipo. The only thing offered in the last few post were cons on running 7.4V Lipo. IMO I think you misread OvalDudes post.

I think we're all a bit anxous to get our hands on a single cell LiPo but we'll have to wait until the cells are in. SMC has already ordered the packs for the first batch and they'll probably be in short supply at first.

Hopefully once a few people test the packs and figure out what we really need to run single cell we'll be set. Some will need receiver packs and some won't. My KO stuff works until the motor pretty much won't move anymore but the personals will need a simple booster that Novak already makes. Some of the older systems (and mod) will need a receiver pack.

I just hope that people don't screw around with the motors. If we leave the motors where they're at it will get the cars down to speeds where new guys can have a place to start. The rest of us can move up to the faster classes like 13.5 and mod. Bottom line is that we need to have classes where the racers can choose the speed that's right for them. Mod 12th is pretty much out of control at the moment so slowing it down would be a really good way to get people to start running all the classes again.

Yes, it will charge a 3.7v lipo. It's on the first or second line of your profile. It'll let you select 3.7v, 7.4v, or 11.1v.

Yup, charges single cell stuff like a champ. Most good chargers will have no problem charging the single cell stuff and no balancer is needed.

Fred-

If the pack is a 3 cell or 2 cell config wired for singler cell voltage wouldn't you still need to be able to balance?
