TT01E VS TB03
 

Hi guys, first thanks for the help on my first post regarding getting an on road car. I've narrowed down to these two, as I'm an old school Tamiya guy and reallly looking forward to building my first kit since the original Blackfoot.

I like the fact that both of these kits are new, so that really helped the decision.

1) Not going to race
2) Want to be able to "hop up" ......that's half the fun isn't it :)
3) Have great hobby shops in my city and don't mind shopping online or parts
4) Curious if there is rumors of a non IFS TB03, and if the IFS system limits the aftermarket bodies I can put on the TB03

I would go with the TB03. As far as aftermarket bodies, they all will fit on the TB03 w/IFS. The front height is lower on the the IFS cars than on the regular standup shock design. I hope this a little for you. Dave

If you're not going to race, maybe the TT01-E will be better. The bevel gears are little more beefy than the TB03. The c-hubs on the TB03 is a bit weak, and some ppl have shattered them at black can speeds. In this case you need to upgrade to the trf416 suspension components. The TT01 is pretty bulletproof for bashing.

Both cars have good option lineups. BUT if you are thinking of racing even a small amount, go with the TB-03

to go right out and say u wont race is kinda the wrong idea to take.

just go get the tb03 and then the choice is there to race if u want. besides, if 'hop-ups' are 1/2 the fun. what good are they if ur not competing in some form. sounds like a way to throw ur $ away.

Yup ! ...but the stock TB03 components are of a different softer material :D

I was hoping it comes with the same stuff as the 416 suspension, but hey this is Tamiya we talking about. :lol: The C-hub is especially bad, way too soft to handle even black can speeds. Night and day difference with the carbon reinforced parts.

Buying the Porsche TT01E tomorrow, just seems like a better buy for a beginner "basher"....

i just got myself a TA05IFS... it is exactly the same compare to TB03 except that TA05IFS is using belt whereas TB03 is using shaft... what i can say is it a very good car for beginner... this is my first rc... what i can say is it is a better buy compare to TT01... the choice is up to u... the most important thing is Happy RCing...:cool:

not really, go w/the tb03, u'll be grateful later (and now too).

even with droop control the tt01 is still far inferior. and i think the 1st time u see a sedan or tamiya race. u'll wanna play just the same.

PS-somethin to chew on, tt01s are not cheap anymore. long gone are the days of a 70$ kit. folks would buy another kit b/c it was cheaper to do so then buy another $$$ tamiya body and front knuckles which broke all the time. usually that parts bag, set of tires, and the body cost that much!!!!!

now they are in the 120s-150s. that really slights things in the TB/TAs favor.
