I cant remember my Old name on here so I have Created a New one. I got out of RC for about a year so I could just spend more time with my New Daughter n such but Now Im coming back.
I have a 1/10th Cyclone S Kit that I bought and now am in the market for a Motor and ESC. I am looking for SPEEEEEEEED so what do you recommend to be the Fastest. I used to have a Novak 3.5 and it was fast but I just want Faster.
please include Pics and Links. Also will a 3S Lipo fit in my Cyclone or can I put more or is that basicly the limit for most motors.
Ok ive read up on the net about the Mamba 5700 and it seems like it will be Fast. My ? is this the motor sais 3S Lipo. is that the Max it can Handle?
What kind of speeds could I see using my Cyclone S kit and the mamba 5700 with 3s lipo. or is there no way to know until I test for myself.
also could someone recommend me a Lipo battery for this and a charger. please post a link.
Most modern touring cars, if properly geared will do 60-70 mph on 3S Lipo. Need a bit of smooth space to really enjoy that though. Also, I will say that if flat out speed is your thing, radio range can become an issue, especially if you use Spektrum stuff.
The Mamba Max technically only supports 5700kv motors with 3S, but I know plenty of people that have run 6900 and 7700kv motors with 3S on it. Just need to keep things cool. If you're looking for pure insanity (4S or beyond) Castle makes the Mamba Monster Max which supports up to 6S Lipo. There are plenty of videos on Youtube of touring cars going over 100mph, some with crazy voltages. With enough volts, speed comes assuming you don't start blowing things up or getting airborn. There are plenty of other options for ESC and motor too, but for bashing/speed fun, Castle's Mamba stuff is pretty good !/$.
If you want to race, you'll need ROAR approved hard cased batteries. Orion, Reedy, SMC and others all make a variety of 2S (and even some 3S) hard packs.
I've stuck a MaxAmps 3S 5000mah and used the AC/DC charger/balancer in just for speed craziness. A 7700kv motor and 3S is rediculously fast unless you have a lot of (smooth) space to run it.
Is the charger I have. It's AC/DC, with an integrated balancer. Works fine, althoug it is pretty slow if you've got big high capacity stuff to charge since its only ~50W.
motor and ESC im unsure of at this point the 5700 looks like a good deal. liek i said i used to run the novak 3.5 and it was wicked fast but started having problems with it so i got rid of it.
I always thought that the higher the kv rating on a brushless motor the faster it was. That being said if you are looking for speed why don't you go with the high kv motor mamba makes

Right, but you can safely run 3S lipo on the 5700kV. However I see your point.
If you're only going to do 2S lipo, go with the 7700kV motor. It will be a beast, let me tell you

The Mamba Max is the heftier of the ESCs out there, and can handle a lot of cells. They were designed for the bashers and speed demons in mind.
If you go with the Mamba Max, you can either go with a 5700kV motor with 12 cells, or the liPo equivalent, or the 7700kV motor on 6 cells.
7700kV x 7.2V= 55440 RPM
5700kV x 14.4v= 82080 RPM
