Like k_bojar said I use a vinyl cutter to do most of all my graphics comes in very handy check out my site and you can see all the different paint jobs I have done www.bodiesbybean.com . To get the line spacing right I use a center zero ruler 12 11 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 It works great to get the lines centered on the body

Hey AndyH, a month ago on 3/25 you posted that you would post some pics of the new Vintage Trans Am body due from HPI soon. When will we see these pics?

I know that HPI has a pre-painted, orange with white stripes '69 Camaro body that they showed at the Nurnberg Toy Show a few months ago, and I am going to assume that we here in the States will be getting that body; but when?!!

Also, I read about the possibilty of a '68 or '69 Firebird or an AMC Javelin; any truth to that?

Okay, I was wrong, still fairly certain they didn't run Novas' tho.

I'm gonna start betting you for cash !!! Amazing how many different cars actually ran this series. Some, like the Nova, were 1 offs but this was racing when it took alot less to be a part of it.

The original Trans-Am had 2 classes: Under 2 liters and Over 2 liters. The Over 2 liter championships were won by the VTA cars we currently run, with the big exception of the AMC Javelin, which won the championships in 71 and 72 and was 2nd in 70; plus the Pontiac Firebird. A few Cougars ran; the odd Dodge Dart and Pontiac Tempest showed up; and there were less than a handful of showings by a Nova and a Falcon.

The Under 2 liter class was dominated by Porsche, then Alfa Romeo and finally Datsun, when the displacement was increased to 2.5 liters. Tons of different cars ran in under 2 liter -- VWs, NSUs, Cortinas, Austin Coopers, BMW 2002s and on and on.

So the most significant cars that aren't in the HPI catalog at the moment are the Firebird Trans-Am and the Javelin. In historical importance, the Javelin probably wins out.

I had a fellow racer ask a interesting question at the track this weekend. He wanted to know, of the available VTA bodies, which one is the most aerodynamic? I am at a loss, I told him they are 60s era muscle cars, aerodynamics wasn't as much a consideration as much as how much motor could be stuffed between the rails....what are your thoughts guys??

And just when is "soon"?

I'd venture that there isn't a lot of aero difference between any of the VTA bodies. You're right, the 1:1 cars were "styled" more than they were "engineered." The air dams and spoilers were added to the race versions not to add downforce, but to kill lift. The fastback designs of the time were notorious for lifting up the back of the car at high speeds. Bottom line, buy what you like to look at.

if memory serves it will be prepainted and on a Sprint 2 Chassis (thats what they said at the toy fair) and a clear version havent heard from HPI yet
