I finished this one last night for a guy in Dallas, Tx who races VTA. Unfortunately, HPI had discontinued the Cuda body, so we had to use the next closest, a 1970 Challenger, to do a #42. Still, it looks good on that body too. I used Faskolor paints all straight from the bottle. The only decal is the "Dodge" which would be "Plymouth" if it was true to scale.

Very nice job! I was wallowing on the fence between doing this to replace my tired Cuda street car body, and doing the Corvette. This one will be in my stable eventually!

Wait.... WHAT? Did you say HPI discontinued the 'Cuda??? WTF

So is HPI planning on screwing up this class? I need to hear that this is a one-off and the tires / wheels / other bodies are OK.

Not the Cuda! That's my favorite body!

Well, here's HPI's page on it: http://www.hpiracing.com/products/en/17510/

They say its "unavailable."

Tower Hobbies says it is "Discontinued" and my knowledgable buddy at our HobbyTown USA said they are discontinued too. I've not found any on eBay. You CAN still by the per-painted ones. I think they are green.

Well, at the bottom of the page, it says, "Buy HPI is currently unavailble"...which, I assume means that you can't buy this body *clear* direct from HPI any longer. Whether the body itself is discontinued is another tale. I'd e-mail 'em and ask.

I got an email from Great Plains saying the HPI cuda body is discontinued since now that they are the Only Distributor for HPI I guess it's true. I was told they move the entire warehouse to the Great Plains facility.

yeah, you can't buy directly off hpi.com anymore since Hobbico took over HPI. that's why their website says "buy hpi closed" or "buy hpi currently unavailible". if towerhobbies shows it as discontinued, 99.9% chance it's discontinued. If great planes says its discontinued, then it is.

Tower has a habit of saying "discontinued" when they decide to no longer carry a product. Meaning other vendors domestic or foreign may still carry it. Unfortunately, in this case since Tower has taken over HPI USA and the North America market is the main market for this body, this is bad news. Maybe someone will make a "splash" of this body.

I hope a couple people pick up that new McAllister Pontiac body and get them painted up, I'd like to see those w/ a cool VTA Scheme on them...built to RACE!

That really does suck if the Cuda is discontinued. The Challenger being available makes it not quite so bad.
