The wheels were no trouble really. I washed them thoroughly and then gave them a light coat of Rustoleum Primer. That made sure I'd get a good bond to the chrome (the hobby shop didnt have white plastic). Then Faskolor and then a clear coat.

Does anyone know of *anywheres* online that has the Pegasus '70 1/2 Camaro *IN STOCK*? Building my first VTA and don't wanna "copy everybody" with a first-gen Camaro, Javelin, or Barracuda/Challenger.

Here is my 1967 Corvette body I painted last weekend. I decided to mimic this actual race car from the '67 Le Mans race driven by Dick Guldstrand, Bob Bondurant, and Don Yenko. Here is the real car:

And here is my version. Not quite an exact replica, but more of an homage to the original...

That shell would look good with some light buckets for that configuration.

I noticed that your sig says Outlaw VTA and I am sure that the last thing you want is for someone to point out that your shell is not USVTA legal so I was just going to ask you what the body shell rules are at your track for Outlaw VTA. I think it would be cool to have an event that runs VTA bodies wheels and tires, but is open power, open motor, open Battery and ESC. Lets see if you guys can keep it between the pipes. I think that would be interesting. Please no flames about this. I am not suggesting a rule change. Just a single event that does something different. Probably would be too destructive on the gear. Yup I smell broken arms and twisted axles.

I love that body too. I've got a couple of them. Extra thick (I need that) and the rounded nose stays nice much longer than the Camaros and Mustangs. But, like stated, its not USVTA legal. You can run one in USGT of course, that's what I intend to do with mine.

I didn't think it would be a big deal posting the pics in here even though the body is not USVTA legal... We run Outlaw VTA rules, and here is a link for those who are interested:

Its not a big deal. Perfect place to post those pics. I think 99% of us wish it was legal. Most tracks won't care for club racing anyway.

I'm glad you posted it and I don't think it's a big deal to anyone so no worries! I love what you did with that body. Looks fantastic!

SoCal is running a OUTLAW VTA class at some tracks (some are also running true US VTA) - but the outlaw rules allow OPEN 21.5 motors - open ROAR Legal batteries - I believe this Corvette and the McAllister Camaros - and the SMOKEY and the BANDIT Firebird are the only NON USVTA Bodies I've seen run w/ the outlaws so far.

At the upcoming GOLDEN STATE On-Road Championship at Camarillo's FREEDOM PARK RACEWAY they will have Both USVTA and OUTLAW VTA (along w/ 13 other classes for the big 2 day event) Wish I could be there

I forgot to mention how nice the car looks. What a great paint job and it definitely brings back the emotion of the period.

I painted a 67 Corvette that I was going to use for USGT racing last year. Then, I got invited to a special charity breakfast at the track right before the Indy 500 last year (we live about 10 miles away). There were drivers there for the event, so I took it with me thinking it would be unique and got it autographed! Johnny Rutherford and Tony Kanaan and Graham Rahal are on there now. JR thought it was really cool. (Yes, I was happy Tony Kanaan won Indy this year as you might guess!) Hope to get more signatures on it in the future.

I wouldn't race that body either! Love the color... and I was glad to see Tony win this year too. I just can't seem to get past the ugly bodies they run in Indycar racing now. But then again, I am still bitter over Tony George and AJ Foyt screwing up CART in the first place!

Hi Indy, were you at the track this year with that body? I thought that was you a saw during the Indy lights Qualifying. I was sitting one row down and over to the left from you.
