There was one like that at the USVTA Southern Nationals in September. It looked GREAT on the track!

Well, as you can figure from the post above, I had some issues with the candy purple I was attempting to spray my challenger. So, I immediately grabbed the DOT 4 brake fluid to remove it when an idea struck me. I am really into 'barnfinds' and distressed original paint cars. So, i stopped wiping the paint out, cleaned out the brake fluid and residue, grabbed a can of SEM flexible bumper primer I have, and sprayed it again. Then I did the hood last. In a nutshell, this is a crappy paintjob that I tried to save by making it look distressed and old. So, I present to you my Barnfind 70 Challenger. Still waiting on my number plates and a few other things though, and sorry for the crappy cellphone pic.

They say Barn Finds are getting harder and harder to find in the U.S. I remember being offered a really nice 69 Camaro back in the early 80's for about $4,000. Boy, I sure wish now I'd jumped on it. Hindsight is so clear. They are selling the restored ones on Barrett-Jackson for huge money!

I've put together a second VTA car using a new-to-me TC5 chassis. Until I get it set up, I didn't want to tear up my new purple challenger body. So, I pulled out my "Green Machine" 66 Mustang body. The front is beat, but it still looks good for the rest of the car pretty much. Some fiberglass cloth and shoe goo got the front end back to one piece. Paint is Faskolor Key Lime.

Awesome creativity on the barn find paint job. Many of the real Trans Am race cars have met similar fates wasting away and forgotten. I would love to see a diarama of your paint scheme staged as a barn find. Actually, your photo has given a few ideas on what to do with an old beat-up VTA body.

In about 98 I found a 1967 Tempest Custom Sprint behind a barn in Northern Michigan. Talked the guy out of it for $2500.....I drove it home. Was all original. I was able to wheel the paint back out for the most part and was very little rust on the quarters. There was only 400 and something sprints made that year.

That "rusted" Camaro is one of the coolest paintjobs I've ever seen. Kudos to your friend.

I was hoping someone could direct me back to something I saw a couple of weeks ago. Someone was selling chassis wraps that made the chassis plate look like the underside of a real car. Has anyone else on here seen these? Remember where you saw them or where I can find them?
Thanks,
Scott

The Mtn Dew Camaro is phenominal. I can't imagine how long it took to do all that detail!

I need to get one of those chassis decals, too...cool stuff.

Scrolling through this thread... Boy there's a lot of pretty bodies!!!

Anyone seen a real green (preferably green on green) Mustang in one of the trans am races? I know many don't like green, but that 70's ford light green holds a special place in my heart....

Would that be SeaFoam Green. That was the color of my 68 mustang.
