I love this one, I will be running the same for my first VTA paint

We had a total of 7 VTA cars at the track last night. I really wanted to get some pictures, but got caught up in trying to run too many classes. Has anyone else been having problems with the edge speedo from Novak? There was two cars that had ESC failures, both were novak edge units, both brand new from different retailers.

It happens. I had a bad one out of the box too. I returned it and Novak replaced it with no problems.

We probably shouldn't be talking about this on this thread though...

Here's my latest. I've seen other Roy Wood Javelins out there, but I think this one is nice if I do say so myself. And no, I didn't paint it. Had it done.

Here is the real deal:

Paint it on the outside of the body

Mike, the best way that I have found is to use a flat paint on the outside. First paint the sections black on the inside. Then scuff the outside and then paint it flat black. I have found this to be a good technique and if even the paint does scuff the color on the inside would still be black.

As for the flat black, that is NOT painted on the outside. Yeah, I didn't believe him either. But I got the spare nose for the J71 back from him and it is painted on the inside only. Then he (normally) masks the area on the outside and applies "something" that etches the lexan. On the spare nose he gave me you can see where the stuff is applied (because he didn't have to mask it on that piece) and you can even see where the stuff is applied over clear areas. It really works and you get the flat look and still have all the paint on the inside.

Trade secret.

Hey Guys. Thanks for the compliments

Actually all it is for the flat look is a flat acrylic clear from the hardware store. Ill paint everything on the inside, and then before peeling the overspray film, trim out the section I want flat, spray a coat on there, let it dry, and peel the rest. Its a pretty simple way to get the flat look without painting on the outside.
