Glad you're going to enjoy running with us

Now post that pic of your car in here

Not sure if it makes a difference for you - but we are ON for next Thursday's race at Nifty Fifty's...If you wanna run but need something, shoot me an email and I can see about hooking you up...

Is there a flat black paint that will work well on the inside? Either rattle can or airbrush paint will work for me. Just looking for a brand of paint that I know people have used for success for flat black internal painting..

thnx

The problem is that the lexan itself is shiny. So even if you use a flat black on the inside, (Traditional method fro painting Lexan) you are still going to get a gloss black finish.

The only way you are going to get the look like on the hood of Indy Racers Cuda is to do it the way he did it, Or you can paint the inside black and use Tamiya frost on the outside. Oh yeah Ive heard that you can use black auto primer on the outside. So I guess theres three ways.

The other option for the dull look is to glaze the lexan on the outside of the body. I've read other people using sandpaper or Scotch Brite pads to scuff the lexan. I've also read but don't remember that some automotive waxing compounds will scuff up lexan. Recently I discovered that a Goo-Gone product (adhesive remover) I have really ruins the finish on lexan and plastic. I might experiment on an old body to see what kind of result I can achieve.

The option I chose was painting the outside of the body/hood. Since I was painting an HPI body that had an external paint mask this made it easier. I just peeled back the external paint mask over the hood and masked around the edges. I sprayed a few lights coats of flat black on the hood. You could do this before or after you paint the inside, but I chose after.

You don't necessarily have to use a flat finish paint as lexan based paints tend to have a dull finish. However I chose to use Model Master Flat Black 28134. I should add that I only use rattle cans to paint my bodies which is why I have been sharing what type of paint I use when I've posted photos.

I saw some of the new Testors paints today. I think they were called one coat laquer. I was thinking that these were going to work with polycarbonate, but I cant really say. Hopefully Andy H will know. I hope they work because there are some great colors.

No. Just time to stop pre drilling your post holes.

Maybe you should get an agent. Or maybe the local shop will let you display and sell from there. Maybe you cant let them go and you have to keep them all to yourself. It that case, its time for an intervention.

Knocked out another Camaro yesterday. It is painted like the 88 entry by Maurice Carter. Below is a picture of the actual car. I painted mine Pactra Racing Red and Pactra Spring White.

The numbers on these bodies are off what they really should be accomodate the event that I'm donating them to. Easier to announce car 1-6 than 6, 13, 88, etc.

Is the window tint a spray, or is it auto film?

Gorgeous! I especially love the numbers. The chrome came out great as well. Shouldn't the lettering on the hood read "427 c.i." or did you have some other meaning in mind?
