What are popular chassis for this class? How old a car can a guy run?
Try clicking on the link below to access the VTA thread.
U.S. Vintage Trans-Am Racing
The key to getting around the "re-direct error" is to type in that last page number at the end of the link (i.e. "vintage-trans-am-racing-897.html"). Even if you are 1 or 2 page numbers too high, it will take you to the last page.

As far as old chassis are concerned, I am running a 10-year-old Schumacher SST chassis and it kicks a$$ on my track.

I can still put my old Nikko '72 Trans Am body on my VTA, but it weighs 5 times as much as a PolyCarb body.
I can't find anybody who could make a lexan (or PolyCarb) body from a plastic toy. I think it costs several thousand dollars to make a mold of a specific car model so that a lexan body could be formed. I am happy that HPI finally made a classic Pontiac TA, but man I wish they would have made the nose on it look like this one...

And I really dig those honey-comb rims! That's style baby!
If I were to paint up a Pontiac Trans Am for VTA, I would paint it just like the one in this pic...

This was the first car I drove. My family had one. A 72 Charger! Did any of those era Chargers get used for real VTA?

I don't think there's a body out there except the hot rod one from HPI. And, I'm sure its not USVTA legal.

I don't think any of the real cars were ever in TA, mainly due to the long overhangs I would think, not the best for handling. I wonder how driving a Nascar Superbird was like driving on a road course..

Shoot, they raced (V)opar wing cars on road courses.

No B-bodies ever raced in Trans Am. Only A-bodies up to 1970. Then E-bodies.

First attempt at airbrushing and using liquid mask. Color's may not totally fit the VTA theme, but I am not skilled enough to drive in races where it would matter.
