Can somebody out there get the word out to HPI Racing, or Protoform, or Parma, or McAllister, or even Bolink to make a Lexan version of this '72 Pontiac Firebird?

Does anybody on this forum know somebody who works for HPI Racing? I want to ship this 1972 Pontiac Trans Am Firebird to HPI Racing so that they can make a Lexan body of this car for VTA enthusiasts all over the world.

AndyH that pops in here from time to time is from HPI. He would be the guy you would want to talk to. I would so love if they made that body, I would be set for life in VTA.

Has anyone purchased the new Javlin from Protoform, the body looks great just wondering how it handles.

I ran one at the Nationals last month, and I was very happy with the way the car handled. The body was surprisingly light and very strong, even with the steel alloy screws in the nose. I found that I needed to trim the front spoiler in a bit of a chevron to get a little better clearance in the corners, and it looked a little better, too.

If this body is any indication of the quality of VTA bodies we can expect from Protoform, I would say we're all going to be very happy with everything that we get from here on out.

Honestly, body selection in VTA is not really that important to performance. They all work well. You just want to make sure that they are strong enough to last for more than a couple of races. THe J71 did very well, considering the driver was 3-years full of rust.

Doug did you mount that nose with included hardware or did you get that from somewhere else?

On the Mascot firebird, if you are willing to destroy that plastic shell you can cut the back end off and turn it up. You can cut the mirrors off and fill in the gaps wheel wells with Chavant Clay. You could make a negative mold and a plug from that. McCallister will pull shells from a plug if you carve your own. They wont help you if you just rip off some one elses work so dont try to back pour a shell unless you are going to do so many mods to it that its unrecognizeable.

It was the included Protoform steel alloy 2mm nuts & screws. I just used 5 screws instead of the provided 6. You could source lighter aluminum hardware from places like Fastener Express, but I don't know how much you would lose in weight, or if it would even be worth it.
