U.S. Vintage Trans-Am [PICS & PAINT Discussion ONLY!!!]

I bought one of Gary McAllister's new Trans AM bodies.... Sa-Weet! I love the way it fits my TC3. Really nice. Being me, it had to be ORANGE of course. Everything is Faskolor. I cut the hood image with a fresh cup of coffee yesterday morning. That was a pain, but looks nice on the finished body. My driver looks like The STIG, so, maybe Top Gear will invite me on the show? OK, probably not.

All that work and it is not VTA legal? (no number on the hood )
Is that what you're running at the Southern Nationals?

I'm pretty partial to orange too...looks good...Novak will like it too. Great job on the hood graphics.
Our 69 Mustang and 70 Pontiac Trans Am are both VTA legal.

Thanks. I'll get a matching hood number on there for official competion. Or, take a Sharpie and write it on there!

The rear wing on your PRO4/HPI Mustang is mounted illegally per USVTA rules. It is probably slowing you down if you are running a 25.5 motor.
Here is a snippet of the rules from the USVTA website (http://www.usvintagetransam.com/rules/index.html)

It's a combo class. Made for beginners. The vta part is almost the same except we use 21.5 motors (roar approved) and no fdr (new)

One of our professional painters here just uses this clear matte finish stuff in a rattle can on the outside after painting it black on the inside looks perfect.
No airbrush needed.
Both of these were done that way:
Look at the #68 on the hood. You can see where he masked over the 68, which is paint on the inside, there is a thin line of the shiny black showing through.

I add baby powder to the black to get a flat black Finnish.
I just need to remember to label it. I always forget to.
