I would use Fasyellow and paint the stripes with Faspearl Silver, and after it dried for a couple of days in a hot car, I'd back it with rustolium gray.

The Fascolor paint is water based. You gotta get it totally dry before you spray Rustolium on it, if you don't the Rustolium will attack it.

Even on a 70 degree day, with the windows rolled up, a car gets to 100 real quick and helps drying.

lol yes i know its water based as with createx. But Ive never heard of anyone using that method. I havent painted as long as alot of the guys but Dont see needing that. You just need to let it completely dry in normal room temperatures. I use krylon crystal clear to seal all my paint jobs which is similar to what your talking about doing but never seen anyone use it for color.

The heat just speeds it up. In the summer, I just leave stuff in my garage. If its 100 outside, its 120+ in my garage! Auto body shops force dry stuff all the time.

You can change the color slightly with the backer. I use a solid color to seal it up and 'cheat' my way out of using the backer color.

Got mine ready. I wanted to keep it simple, then my paint guy used my name in stead of "Boss". I did the numbers in vinyl. I must've searched through a thousand pics looking for a classic number style I like.

Brad, that Mustang looks sweet! Is it the new McAllister one?
Do you know what red that is? I'm looking for a Ducati red for a MotoGP themed VTA & that looks pretty close. Thanks, Jay.

I'm actually not sure. It was bought and painted for me. Its over a year old. He uses an air brush so that red could be anything. I'll ask him and see what I can find out for you. Thank you for the complements!

We think it's a Pegasus. The red is Parma fasred (non florescent, the straight red). Sorry I couldn't be more help. We actually tried to get into VTA over a year ago. The local on road scene has been dead for about six years. So that body actually just sat for about a year. Recently, one of the LHS brought back their on road program, and that's why I twisted his arm to go ahead and paint it.

Looks like Pegasus to me. I like it plain red with just the white stripes. Somtimes I think we ruin stuff with over complexity.

I wanted it to resemble the car it was modeled after. Most of the pics I've seen of actual cars, were pretty simple. I like that; as if some guy took the car he drove daily, applied some racing numbers and went racing.

Good year lettering - HOW?

i searching this thread and what I got was that some bodies had the lettering in there, are these really a sticker?

I asked a selled how he did his and he said he hand painted them. I haven't thie skills and I don't believe that a sticker would stay on too well.

So, how are people doing this?

most I have seen are stickers . I have tried and have been able to do a few small goodyear logos in vinyl mask but there hard to get in the right scale size to be able to weed them out.

I havent done "Goodyear" but did the "ALAN GREEN CHEVROLET" on my camaro front fenders by hand cutting out of liquid mask. Was a PITA for sure cutting that small but it adds alot of style I think over having stickers. Only stickers I try to use is the "Go fast" equipment stickers
