My only concern is the cost. It would be very cool to run Touring heats of 10 mins instead of 5 as it is my understanding that these motors are very very efficient.

With new motors coming out and the cost going down.......
I for one can not see buying this brushless motor.......

if you buy this motor you need to buy a special speed control to go with it.........

I will stick with the brush motor...........

Not to start a fight but where do you see the price of Mod motors going down? I think Mod motors have stayed about the same. As for running 10 min heats that would kill your tires . But I guess having a brushless motor and not having to cut the comm, no more brushes, springs and so forth makes up for that. One thing I have heard though about the brushless motor is that it is like a light switch. Pull the trigger and it is fully on. let off the trigger and it is fully off. there is no half throttle or quarter throttle. This is due to the speed controllers and I guess they have to build the speed controllers differntly or better. Big Jim has some great information on this on the RC Vehicles Forum on about.com. I say give it another year and we may see some good stuff

I think that these new motors are revolutionary, but I don't see the average racer losing all of his "motors and accessories." It's just not practical. Costing around 100- 200 dollars for a brushless speed control and a brushless motor. I'll give them this though, I think they are pretty cool and would burn some asphault on a drag race or likewise.

Pretty funny to look back on this now. I found it on the very last page of threads.

A trip down memory lane....

I yearn for the old days and all the "Brush vs Brushless" threads.

And, it was a bloodless revolution!

I'm looking to get back to racing more often and was thinking of going brushless just due to the maint, or lack there of. Only thing is I'm not sure about the numbers/ratings. I used to run 19T and 540 class but am unsure as to the brushless equivalents. Any help would be appreciated. I'm looking at the Orion Vortex motors.

10.5 is the equivalent to 19 turn.
