Looks like some new power is ready for the track..

it better be at 3400 mah and 23c. Why are companies making the packs smaller? It would be nice to see a 5000mah. Heck, my car is below weight limit with 4200 nimhs!!! Maybe the question should be, Why doesn't roar make the weight limit lower to allow for newer technology? :sneaky: It would be nice if my car can hit the boards at something less than 1525 grams... A touch off topic, but what the hell, its late, inertia, you suck :p |
Needs more mAh! like.. 5200mah

i heard they are working on a 5600 mah lipo pack.
NOT! lol, just kidding, technology doesnt move that fast, or does it?:batman: |
What kind of motors are people running that require 5000Mah to finish a 5 minute race?
I think people seem to be stuck in the Nimh mentality that with more Mah you also get more voltage. |
Fitment is a huge issue. You only have a certain size criteria to meet given the exsisting chassis that are out there. You could easily build a larger pack but like was said previously most chassis won't except it.
An example of this is the Orion 4800. It's a 2S2P pack that has a 15c rating. This is a great pack but the discharge rate is lower than others out there including there own 3600. They had to run a 2p configuration at the time to get the mah. We are working on other cells and other configurations as we speak. Our Power Cell also has a 2c charge rating should the need arrise. I do agree that if we were allowed to make cars lighter things like tires and other drivetrain parts would last longer(in theory). I think that you will slowly start to see chassis designs take full advantage of the new battery technology it will just take time to get them into production. |

I think people seem to be stuck in the Nimh mentality that with more Mah you also get more voltage. When it comes to Lipos the higher the mAh the voltage will be higher. The C rate also increases the voltage and drops the IR. Atleast this is what we see with our packs. |

I'd like a 6000mah pack. Dont recall why 5000mah was the ROAR legal limit. BUt the 5000limit right now is enough for 8 min mod racing, so its plenty for yrs to come. But imagine the extra power of a 6000mah Lipo 25C. A 2S1P 6000mah 25C Lipo:D within a couple yrs? Who knows...but right now the 5000mah packs are awesome and we'll have no pblms making time with mod for many yrs to come.
A pack of that size should be in 24.5-25mm high range. Currently only the TC5, and MI3 are able to fit up to 25mm packs, cause they actually planned for it. The pblm is the car manufacturers who have not caught on to the Lipo tech yet, but have begun and soon their new 2009 version will feature better lipo fitment. |
That is interesting. Thank you Danny for posting that chart.
I'm just a little curious, what's with the voltage spike after 2 minutes? |
