A 1/3 mile track is 1760 feet. We race on a bicycle velodrome that is 820 ft. (250 meters) and use to run a 333 meter track.
Anything bigger than that - its pretty hard to see the car well enough to race, plus radio issues arise....and it gets hard to keep the cars on the track.
Front Stretch: 440 feet @ 6 degrees banking
Backstretch: 440 feet @ 5 degrees banking
figuring the corners at 75% as long as the straights that would add another 660 ft...so it's possible it's a 1/3 mile track.
I doubt it would be something you'd be able to race 1/10th scale oval cars on.
For large tracks, bicycle velodromes make probably THE Best tracks. We have 2 in the U.S. (Encino Velodrome in CALIFORNIA) and (MAJOR TAYLOR VELODROME in Indianapolis.) that hold R/C Racing. There is one in JAPAN where the WORLDDROME race is held, and one in the UK that is a indoor wooden track that looks incredible.
R/C Racing since 1985 ~ Santa Maria, CA (Central Coast)
2001-2012 - South-West Tour R/C Oval Series - R.I.P.
...will the SWT be revived? Time will tell, but we ARE returning to the VELODROME in 2016
