Guy's from 360,

can you give some names of hotels that are in the area close to the track, and that is a decent price? What about the airport how far is from the track what is the name of the airport?

Thanks,
Bazzer

Macarthur Airport

Do a search under Yahoo and you will find plenty. Search North Babylon.

Macarthur is the closest, but does not support that many airline, JFK and Laguardia are the 2 larger airports in NY and are around 30 mins away during non rush hours times.

If you're flying out of Toronto your best bet might be Air Canada into LaGuardia. Try to get an early flight. PM traffic eastbound toward 360 sucks.

Hey
We have 3 major airports about the same distance from the track:

Long Island, Islip (ISP)
LaGuardia Int'l (LGA)
John F. Kennedy Int'l (JFK)

You can search all of these airports to help find the most direct/cheapest flight as they are all pretty much the same distance to the track. LaGuardia and JFK are a lil further than Islip but I wouldn't call any of the far.

Hope this helps.

Gonna do a lil more research on Hotels and post back..

Well, the problem is "good" and "cheap." There are several motels pretty close to the track, but they're not national chains, and they're not exactly made for overnight stays, if you know what I mean. (nudge, nudge, wink, wink, say no more)

I think the 2 closest name hotels are in Melville, the Hilton Huntington, and the Radisson. Both are probably outside the budget of your average RC racer. You'll have to wait for the out of towners to chime in. If you want to research on your own, the towns to check first are Babylon and Farmingdale.

Any chance for the 360 owners to negotiate a special hotel rate like the FastCats crew did for the Holiday Challenge? They got a block of non-smoking rooms reserved for out of town racers at a reduced rate.

Last year we had a deal with a hotel but the lowest they would go is 100 per night. I know Donny is looking into this and I will also check into it and post some info before the holiday.

I've stayed at the La Quinta in Bohemia, NY (right near Islip Airport) this month for the ROAR 1 regional. I just booked a room for two nights to lock in a good rate. They have a 6pm the day of cancellation policy in case 360 is able to lock in a lower rate somewhere else.

You might be able to find other cheap hotels at http://www.kayak.com

+1 for La Quinta. I have stayed at a bunch of them for robotics competitions, and each one was great. They had awesome WiFi, and the sheets smelled fine.
