tdunster, Racecrafter...thanks for the info. I have some new gears in the mail so I'll be able to test them out soon.

I'll have a go at that setup sheet as well

Awesome information in that setup sheet.

Thanks for posting.

You both are very welcome.

The TB03 is still an awesome race car for the money.

Default Tamiya TB03

I have 8.5t brushless with 3s lipo, in speed, is it the equal to a 3.5t,4.0t or 4.5t motor?(remember I can gear it from 6.5-8fdr for my motor compared to 9fdr+ for the lower turns, currently geared stock).

Do you prefer rubber or foam when yo bashing?

Default DIFFS

The Diffs for the HP Shaft Drive Cars at R2 look the same as the tb03. Check the first page of that cars spare parts list on r2 to find the diff halves and diff gears. Check the last page of that cars spare parts to find the complete diff.

They look so similar. I might get the CF chassis from R2Hobbies soon. Does the handling increase?

And how fast do things get back in stock at R2Hobbies, the chassis is out of stock

Track Star drivers Jimmy Wright, Chris Vierra and Jeff White will be attending the Tamiya Fun Race this Saturday at Tamiya's world class race facility in Aliso Viejo Calif.

We will be fielding our new TA06 along with two of our Championship Winning TB03's.

We will be in attendance to not only race but to be there for anyone who needs help with car set up or driving instruction. Stop by and say Hello.

Default DB-03 to Rally car?

Ok. I got beat up on this on another forum, but I'm going to ask anyway.

Does anyone have any experience or suggestions about converting the TB-03 to a rally car? I've looked at two other cars (Exceed Champion/Drift Star and the Thunder Tiger Sparrowhawk VX) compared to the Tamiya, and it seems like this might offer the best performance and upgrade options.

Yes, I've considered the DF03ra, but it has major limitations with the battery compartment, and parts compatibility. A Tamiya rep said that by removing the "droop screws" and using shock spacers you could achieve the same ride height as the DF03ra.

Jimmy - what changes would you make to your setup for VTA? Bought a TB03 for my son to drive (he's 11 and has the racing bug real bad!)

Also...what spur gears fit for 64p. Speedtech has a kimbourgh 82t in stock.

Thanks.

Default Drifting with TB03

Hi, I'm a TC driver, wanting to do some drifting. I love my TB03 and am gonna get TB03VDS for drifting. What would be the best esc to go with it? Is there a minimum turns motor you need to drift?

Am currently thinking of
Hobbywing Xerun 60A + 13.5T Xerun
or
LRP AI + LRP Vector / X12 13.5T
or
LRP SXX v2 + LRP Vector / X12 13.5T
or
Novak Kinetic 13.5T combo

Will 13.5T be too much for novice drifter? Should I just do 17.5T?

Is there any drift specific ESC or Motor?

Also what is the best gearing for drifting?

Ciao Ray,
on my tb03 i'm using 88t, if you use a smaller spur than the motor will sit too close to the shaft

ciao

TB-03 can take a whole lot of beating...
Don't need much change....
Follow the build instruction for TB03D. Don't use in-board suspension system. Use the shock tower.

Instead of lower your COG (slide 13 & 15), you want to let it have a bit more clearance.

Set your damper to about 60 - 65mm in length.

Put some rally block tyres. I think you should be good to go.

I saw on youtube guys in japan use TA05 for rally but they runs on pack dirt track, so it should be no Problem for the TB03 to go rallying since all the gears are enclosed. I've used tb01 for rally before and will consider my tb03 for that also..
