I'm glad I bought mine when I did. I really like this car for the non-boosted 17.5 classes. It drives like a dream. I just need to do the steering link upgrade, the slop in the stock component is just silly, kinda like it was designed in to prompt you to upgrade.

Part number for TB03R is 84109, most of the time the kit number starts with 8 or 9 is limited release.

Thanks,

Has anyone tried the older block on TB03??

The older blocks pretty much fit. I've also used suspension blocks from the TB02R, EVO IV & IV MS, & EVO V. They all pretty much fit, but the differences are with the height of the blocks. Some are thicker at the bottom than others and when using on the TB03 since some are inverted, there are differences in the thickenesses of the areas where the screws go into.

If you're trying to see if another driveshaft will fit, I was able to fit the EVO IV lightweight propeller shaft in without issue. This is the same one that will also fit on the TT01 as well.

Hi all,

I notice in some pics people are using aluminium rocker arms on this car, are they the ta05ifs option Ali rocker arms, do they fit the TB03 too?

Also, what is the steering upgrade needed, the carbon link or some other pieces?

Finally, what would be good gearing for both 10.5 and 13.5?

Thanks,

Dave

Ciao Dave,
yes the rocket arms are the ones used also on TA05ifs, code 53993, re gearing is hard to tell you the final ratio, its depending on which esc you are using. On my model i'm using a team wave esc, and using a 10.5 motor my final ratio is around 7. I replaced the original spur with an 88 tooth pitch 64.

Ciao
Max

Thanks for the info!

To improve the steering, is it the Ali steering parts, or the carbon steering link, or both which are needed to reduce slop?

Both, plus you'll need the 5mm shim to get rid of any play

Hi guys,

This tread seems to be almost dead, I still want to post my newest mod to tb-03 Diff :
I fitted new 12-3/32 Ball Diff gear of TRF502x !

upper tb-03 gear , lower TRF502x gear

finished Diff:

It feels really smooth and moreover now it can stand 13.5 with boost!

You need:
Tamiya 51438 TRF592x Ball Differential Gear Diff
12pc 3/32 or 2.4mm Diff Balls

--> file about 0.5 mm off of the end of the shaft from shorter diff joint

--> don't use the 0.5mm shim between the 850 bearings

have fun!

Thanks Sqizy.
Nice easy mod, and I just bought a sakura zero for because I thought my Tb03 wouldn't handle 13.5 boost!. Doh!
