I tried looking it up on the Tamiya website but I couldn't find anything about it, I looked in the Tamiya America site and in the english version of the japanese site, Nothing. How much does Rainbowten list it for?

Don't be surprised if the marketing boys at Tamiya repackage the 414 m2 as a super duper TA-04 kit (because in reality, that is what the 414 m2 is). LOL

Doubt it. I would love to be able to buy a 414 as a Tamiya Catalog item, but there is just too much difference in parts between two. eg:

-chassis plates, upper & lower
-bulkheads
-rear belt
-shock towers
-hingepin mounting
-bumper mounting

You are right there.
Although there are differences there are also many similarities.. Changing a few screw holes and the way things are mounted doesn't constitute a new design as far as I'm concerned.
The TA04 TRF is more similar to the 414 than it is not as far as I'm concerned..

Personally, 6 mths ago I was wondering why Tamiya didn't go market a TRF 414 "SD"... instead of calling it Evo III.

Making it part of the TB Evo line is a bit strange, considering the thing shares 50% of its bits with the 414... and none with the TB Evo II.

Its simple...Its part of the Evo series because its shaft drive like its predecessors and as I have Both the EvoII and the EvoIII once again their basic design is the same even though there are a few differences....

Haha, I was at the track on Sat and met up with a friend who's
got 2 Evo IIs... he compared my Evo III with his car and there's
really nothing interchangeable between the 2 cars.

But compared to a TA04 & 414... heehee, I used to tell ppl it was
a "shaftdrive 414". Put it next to a 04 or 414 and it's believable.

And that's the only reason I went Evo III - parts sharing.

No thats correct there is not really anything interchangeable between the Evo II and EvoIII but the basic design is the same and at a glance they look the same as is the case with the Ta04 and the 414. The designs are basically the same and thats how I look at a chassis and compare.

To be honest I would suggest, for less money than the "TA04R race tuned version", get an Xray T1R and use the difference to get some good tyres and Inserts and whatever else you can get with the change.
I personally think the T1R represents better value for money and gives you top end performance...

Just what I believe anyway..

I completely agree with you Steevo, it just seems that once you buy Tamiya you get hooked and become like a junkie, and you gotta have more and more, no matter what the cost Maybe is something they put inside the bags.
I myself am trying to go to rehab and break the expensive habit, wish me luck
