TA-O4R Tuned Chassis Version
And just when you thought the TA-04 TRF was the last version of the TA-04 family, Tamiya are releasing the above version.
According to the Rainbowten website, the newest version will have the following:
TA04-R WITH TUNED HOP-UPS. SSG CARBON PARTS, TRF DAMPER & SHORT SPRINGS, RACING STABILIZERS + TYPE RR MOTOR

Don't be surprised if the marketing boys at Tamiya repackage the 414 m2 as a super duper TA-04 kit (because in reality, that is what the 414 m2 is). LOL

Although there are differences there are also many similarities.. Changing a few screw holes and the way things are mounted doesn't constitute a new design as far as I'm concerned.
The TA04 TRF is more similar to the 414 than it is not as far as I'm concerned..

Personally, 6 mths ago I was wondering why Tamiya didn't go market a TRF 414 "SD"... instead of calling it Evo III.
Making it part of the TB Evo line is a bit strange, considering the thing shares 50% of its bits with the 414... and none with the TB Evo II.

Haha, I was at the track on Sat and met up with a friend who's
got 2 Evo IIs... he compared my Evo III with his car and there's
really nothing interchangeable between the 2 cars.
But compared to a TA04 & 414... heehee, I used to tell ppl it was
a "shaftdrive 414". Put it next to a 04 or 414 and it's believable.
And that's the only reason I went Evo III - parts sharing.

Item 49297
Saw this on the Tamiya site finally ...
http://www.tamiya.com/english/news/news/news1.htm#49297
TA04-R Tuned Chassis Kit
Overall length=355mm
R/C Items (Limited Edition)
- A race oriented 2-belt drive full time 4WD chassis has been modified for maximum performance.
- The combination of light-weight carbon lower deck and SSG carbon upper deck saves weight and creates chassis stability.
- SSG carbon is also adopted on damper stays.
- Fluorine coated TRF dampers feature aluminum retainer and short spring for lighter and lower chassis setting.
- Front/rear ball differentials and reinforced tire with molded inserts promise superior road holding performance.
- Comes with high revolution type Super Stock Motor Type-R.
Wonder if it's still better off getting a Raybrig 2002 or TRF.

To be honest I would suggest, for less money than the "TA04R race tuned version", get an Xray T1R and use the difference to get some good tyres and Inserts and whatever else you can get with the change.
I personally think the T1R represents better value for money and gives you top end performance...
Just what I believe anyway..

I completely agree with you Steevo, it just seems that once you buy Tamiya you get hooked and become like a junkie, and you gotta have more and more, no matter what the cost Maybe is something they put inside the bags.
I myself am trying to go to rehab and break the expensive habit, wish me luck
