Just a heads up to those of us out there switching from a Novak brushless to the Losi sensored system. I have had nothing but trouble with the new losi 6.5 brushless system. It runs intermitten the truck goes 5' then stops then five more and the same thing happens. The ESC gives a 214 read error. So horizon sent me out a new at my cost (still waiting for refund) and the truck acts the same way. Today their telling me that my Jr z8800s servo draws to much power and that's why my brushless won't run, and that I need to add a BEC board. Supposedly the novak produces more amps for higher spd/torq servosthen does the Losi. So the choices seem to be spend more cash for the BEC, or upgrade to the new Jr z9100s (uses less amps), or stay with Novak. Anyone else having this problem?

I don't know who you talked to but I have been running the brushless system with an 8800 for 3 months now with no problems.

I was told this by the techs at horizon hobby. I running Losi xxxt cr, Jr Z1 radio, rs310 reciever, jr z8800s, losi lipo. My novak brushless works fine with all this. But the Xcelorin S 6.5 system wont.

this is NOT a BEC problem

your using a Losi LiPo 2S or 3S and what motor and gearing

from your description it sounds like the LVC is coming into play

I am using a 2s lipo(losi one) with a 6.5 and a gear ratio of 11.7 which is what horizon recommended.

wpr2- if your coming to the plex this weekend I'd be glad to look over your esc settings again. If I remember right, the settings weren't being saved correctly after programming it.

I have a spektrum power cap you can try plugging into your receiver. Have you tried a different servo to determine that it is in fact a servo problem? rocketron is "the guy" for this esc so I'm sure he's interested in any problems people are having.

Yep we tried a cap. and a 9100s and it was working fine, we were at the track on monday and Tim was helping us with it, we tried a new receiver, servo, capacitor. and we had no luck, so horizon said to a a novak BEC board because that is what one of their tech guys did with the same servo and it worked.

We will be out his weekend it's SS I know Alex would like to race. We should also be there wednesday night running mini's we'll bring it with us in case you happen to be there. If not we'll see you this weekend. Once again thanks. Doug

Yesterday we tried several different servos (airtronics 94357, 94358, jr z270, futaba s9451). we had the same results with all execpt the futaba. Now the system runs but the speed isn't consistent it goes fast for a lap or so then it slows down for a short distance then the speed will pick back up. But it never completely stops it just acts as if the truck is dragging dead weight. Maybe we're getting closer least we can get lap or so before it slows.

I've been using the Losi for about 2-weeks w/o any of the problems you've experienced (knock on wood) using a Futaba BLS451 Brushless Servo, which I understand is a power hog.

A strange issue I've had is that changing the Timing on the ESC does not seem to change anything. Even sitting on the bench with a 0-deg to 8-deg timing change, the motor spins the same RPM's, nor do I notice any difference on the track. I've confirmed the Timing change on the ESC with the Quick Program Card on the PC Interface, and the timing reads exactly as set with the Card. With a Novak motor you can manually adjust the timing ring and hear the motor change RPM's while moving it, and you can see the difference on the track times too. Why when changing the timing on the Losi ESC electronically does this not have the same effect?
