That's pretty cool. I raced my old TB-02 for two race seasons, and now my 13 year old brother runs it. I wonder if they fixed the bevel gear issue

cant wait for this car to come out. it'll be a force to be reckoned with in GT classes at Tamiya TCS.

Is that a TA05 tub? It looks like they've switched the drive train on the 05IFS for the shaft drive of an EVO? Have to see one before I buy one.

Hmm, T05 geometry in a TB02, could be nice running.

Looks like the battery and motor have been switch around, but that shouldn't effect the handling much?

I gather it's based on the Evo V drivetrain, as the TB-02 was from the Evo III at the time.. why make new parts?

If that's the case, you won't have to worry about the bevel gears.. I know a few people with Evo IV/V's who have to replace the spur gear more often after a hit, because the rest of it is so solid! The 02's bevel issues were the main reason I went to a TA-05, that damn shaft was never long enough. Use the one way, be sure to have a spare gear handy the next heat..

It was also on the heavy side compared to the TA-05, I'm sure it'll be a bit lighter with this new design and all the LWS components on it.. very TA-05 like..

Plus, They aren't making the same mistake as before with custom spurs and fixed motor placement.. what a pain in the A$$ that was!!

it uses 1050 bearings from the 416, so most likely it will incorporate 416 suspension with evo 5's drivetrain mounted on a ta05 styled tub chassis, will definitely be a serious contender in the GT2 classes....ta05 owners beware

The battery and motor are on the same side as the TB-02...

It should be a contender in GT-2...if you can gear it low enough. That's why I went with the TA-05R, I can gear it low enough for a 13.5.

am i missing something?
is the ifs suspension supposed to be an improvement in handling?
or is all the praise going to the low drag drivetrain with a more reliable ring gear?

It's hard to say and appears to be debatable. I have both a hopped up TA05(r) and and an IFS(r). I much prefer the IFS. With similar set ups, the IFS seems to handle infield turning better, and the lap times are just a little quicker, but then it might be all in my head.

As for the drive train, never driven an EVO so I can't say, I do have a hopped up TB02 and will say I prefer the belt drive. Anyone else want share their insights.

Either way, I'm looking forward to adding it to the fleet.

Its more of a scale thing. With traditonal stand up shocks the tower is too high to run bodies like the one pictured. It is commonly known that if you put a cantilever they won't work as well. Its not new technology; all the rc car engineers are aware of the cantilever system, but for Tamiya fans often scale is more important and something to tinker with.

The word is from the TCS crowd... the IFS cars have been working a tick better. It migh tbe just because of the body though... so who knows.
