u veri sure abt the serial number thing?...
i have seen the 414m2 at my LHS and it cos a lot more than the 414m2 in red box.

my LHS told mi that the 1 tat she has is the 1 with serial, strictly for collector oni as it cost more...

so who is telling mi the truth?...
i believe a quality kit such as the 414m2 will definitely have a serial no. kit version,as the way tamiya always works on their top kits...

Yes, I am very sure about it.

I checked Tamiya's Japan's website, and Tamiya USA's website. The reason why the 414M2 with black box cost more is that it has extra tools and an extra body.

and no 414M2 does not have serial number on it. It is not the same as the 414 and 414X kit that does have serial number on it since both of them only have 150 of them produced.

414M2 is not really a collector item. I called Tamiya USA, and they say this kit is not even going to be a limited edition item.

However, there will be limited supply of kits that comes with tools and extra body. however, even those kits won't have serial numbers on them. Why would they put serial numbers on the kits that are not even limited produced??

hmmm,...
wat u said make sense too...
if wat u said is truth, then the info tat my LHS told mi is wrong...

anyway,i believe that the no matter which 414m2 kit u get,it is still a top-notch racing kit.

thanx for the valuable info.

ijnek,

I think you get the item number and the serial number all messed up.

all Tamiya kits have item numbers, 49219 is the item number of the TRF414M2 w/o the tools and bodies that is going to be sold in US.
49220 is the kit that includes the tools and bodies.. and I think they are only being released in Japan.. and they cost a lot more than the regular M2 kit cuz of the tools and body.

serial number are numbers assigned to the limited production kits like the 414 and 414x which there are only 150 each produced.

nope,i did not get the serial no. mixed up.
my LHS did told mi that the 1 in the black box is wif serial no. and is a collector's item...and she also adv mi 2 wait 4 the 1 without serial no. as it will b cheaper.

and i also know tat all tamiya kits have item's no.,...i know wat is the difference between item no. and a limited edition serial no.

I saw the tools at one stage, it included their new blue turnbuckle wrench and some allen drives, but nothing special.
Secondly, I own the orginal 414M, (The better 414M ) and I was wondering, seeming the 414MII is becoming a mass produced kit, does that mean I can readily get spares for my car?

There are many of us that are sponsered here in the San Francisco Bay Area. Most of us get a 50% to free rides here and we run the biggest club race in California, if not United States! We have 160+ interies every reac. Remember that this is only a one day event. We have racers like Barry Baker, Jimmy Jacobson, Mike Swager, (once)Tossilini, Jeff Lewis, Team Yokomo, Mugen, National 1/5 scale champion Eric Vasutin and not to mention on the last race 2 weeks ago, Joel "The Magic" Johnson flew in to race at our club race from NY.

So Usagi, if you are mad at me because you think I am lying about things, then you have the problem. Not me. This is why most of us are sponsered drivers here and get free rides for some type of r/c products.

Anyway....sorry people for getting off the 414 topic.
