Default TRF414MII Gearing

My first post on this site-hope you can help me out:

Any idea what gearing/rollout I should be running on a TRF414M2
with a Monster stock motor.? Track is a mixture of tight turns and
1 medium straight. I'm just trying to get in the ballpark and any help would be appreciated!

Default Gearing

Hi Speedracer--

I would start with (48 pitch) 90/25, which with the internal ratio of 2.13 yields a 7.668. The Monster stock has such high RPM that it should be ok, at least for a starting point. I'm running on asphalt, btw. Most recently, I've been using a P2K and going about 3 pinion teeth higher, even on higher speed tracks. Most racers are running the Monsters, and usually at 7.0 or above.

Terry, thanks for the info! I'm running 7.74 overall ratio right now (120/33). Maybe a little high, but I wanted to error on the safe side to start out. Tamiya recommended I gear the car between 6.5 and 7.0 with a Monster Stock, but I was cooking the motor...

Thanks again for the help!

Default 414M/M2 CHASSIS PLATE DIFFERENCES - picky picky details

Hoping some of you diehard Tamiya-philes can answer this...

How many *different* chassis bottom plates did Tamiya make for 414M/M2??

414M black CF
414M2 black CF
414M2 SSG (exactly same as black CF in design?)

414M-WCR... is this chassis plate same as 414M's black CF?

no its a bit bit diffrent

the 414m2 can hold stick packs... while the wrc one cant

so the wrc doesnt have that little bit on the battery slot holes

I also believe the cells are closer together on the SSG version than the std.

hmm, that is what I had suspected.

So the WCR's chassis is same as original 414M's ??

I'll be looking for a new chassis plate for a WCR eventually, and
trying to work out what is the exact replacement.

Already got the 414M2 & the SSG but someone said those aren't
exactly the same as WCR.

the diffrence between the 414mII and WRC

is that the 414mII has that extra peice for stick packs.

if you cut them off.... you have a wrc one

Anyone knows whether the C-Hubs, Front/Rear knuckles for the TA04 are usuable for TRF414?
