tamiya does not make a spool, but it is very easy to make one your self.

all you have to do is...

1. obtain some aluminum oxide sandpaper(a medium grit will work)

2. use a spare or used diff ring and trace the shape onto the back of the sandpaper. do this a total of 4 times.

3. cut out the new sand paper diff rings.

4. double up the pieces of sand paper and glue them together (this will achieve the correct thinkness of a metal diff ring)

5. glue the new doubled up paper diff rings to the black ring holder of the outdrive.

6. wait for the glue to dry, and then just re-assemble the diff together leaving out the diff balls, then tighten the diff nut down all of the way and this will allow the sand paper to bite very hard onto the gear.

i ran the spool setup as described above for one month on carpet with foam tires, and did not get even one slip out of the spool.

i got this idea from the spool pads that come with the new team losi graphite plus xxx-s kit, except i think that my design is better because when running the 414, if you break a plastic outdrive, or wear out a steel one, all you have to do is replace that particular portion becuase the black ring hold stays intact!

p.s. if you need a picture of what i have described above, let me know and i can post one real quick.

Default Sad sad day for me...

Hi all,
It's a sad day for me as I will be parting with my Tamiya TRF 414 WCR #777/1700. That's right, the number is lucky 777. I have a baby on the way and am forced to sell my car. I will be taking pics and posting it in the for sale forum in the near future. If anyone is interested, please post or email me at drble@yahoo.com.
Again, I will be posting a sale in the sale forum later this week.

Thanks.

Hey Peter, please post the pic of the sandpaper spool. Sounds like a great idea. I'll have to try it sometime. One question for ya. Are you or any other Factory Tamiya Racer gonna be at the Roar Nationals this year? Would be nice to have some support there. It's at my home track. Thanks..

Its to create a solid axle, no differential action.

For TCS you will have issues if the tech guy is paying attention.
You can also do the same by using a gear diff and "lubricating" it with Shoe Goo or some other type of hardening "lubricant"

I will be at the carpet nationals at Twin City Hobby in a couple of weeks... and as far as i know, David Jun will be there too, along with a driver from Canada. As for the outdoor nationals (i'm assuming this is the national you were refering to since i saw that you were from NC)... not sure yet.

I am still in highschool, and i have to make that my first and foremost priority right now. we are only alloted a cartain ammount of acceptable absences per semester (10) at my school. i will miss four days for the carpet nats, and i definatly will be at the Reedy Race, at the tamiya HQ as long as the date does not interfere with graduation.

peter

p.s. someone is going to have to tell me how to post pictures on here so that you can see the pics of the spool...
