I'm running the new SP MMM that ran only 2 races. Never got the temp above 160F and running the timing at 11deg. Gearing is around 6.2-6.5.

Im assuming this is a boosted class. but take your timeing on the can down to 0 degrees this will make the motor more efficient and also give you more bottom end punch through out the whole run. also stay closer to like a 6.3 hope this helps.

Default iPad/ iPhone program??

I read in a few post back, before the summer that TEKIN is planning to make it possible to program your Hotwire through your smartphone or iPad. I was just wondering since the new 4Gs can do everything but make you a steak....why is it that I cannot program my ESC yet? I hate carring my laptop to the track.

Tekin wazup?

Unfortunately Apple is making it very difficult for Tekin to do an iPhone app so that isn't likely to happen now. As for Android the problem is the devices do not have a host controller so to make Hotwire work would require a programmer type box between the device and the RS and the Android device would then just be a GUI for the programmer.

Quick question here.
Has any one have a good starting map for the Tekin for a Pro10 235MM with a 10.5 motor?
It is the LRP X11 for now but will be later on the X12.
I normally drive TC and am starting Pro10 next year when the outdoor season starts again.

Roy, It will depend on a couple of things. 1st - 1 cell or 2 cell? and track size and layout. In Running 10.5 2 cell, I had guys chassin me with boost and turbo, but I ran it in dual mode as some do with modified motors. Seemed like the timing advance just built up heat. Also, the big pan cars do not have enough grip for the power we can through at it, so a little over geared helps it come out of the corners.

There is a thread here on RcTEch for the 1/10 scale on road (look in the larger scale/oval link) and you will find more help and info.

Oops sorry for the lack of details
Car is a 235MM pancar(so the Pro10), motor is the LRP X11 10.5.
ESC offcourse the Tekin RS/RS Pro,2S lipo is what we are running, tracks are: hometrack has a 45 meter straight and 2 rather fast corners, a busstop and 3 hairpins.
Here is a impression of the track http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0y00uwKLjoA
Movie is of 2009 with 5 cells 10.5.
Also i am going to run on the bigger tracks(1:8 nitro) in Holland lilk MACH at Heemstede,AMCA at Apeldoorn(where this years ETS was) and more of those.
Some of the guys who run at this class use the HW 120A ESC who has only dynamic timing?.
The grip on the tracks i am going to drive is med to high so when comming out of the corners you can put your foot down if your good enough
For the TC at out track i have hit the sweet spot with the Tekin and LRP X12 13.5
I have run my car agains some mod drivers and had just one of them in front of me.
The rest is faster on the straights but they can't keep up overall
Should i run with turbo or not?
Just with timing or a combination?
All help would be fine.
Running it now like i would run it in a TC, but when hitting the turbo it goes flying
Did gear the whole lot already a bit lower.
I also compared it with running the same gearing with a LRP SPX Stock spec ESC but then the car was to slow and it would build up heat(dunno why)
For now the motor temp is 45 degrees after a 10 minutes run with these setting(tekin).

regards Roy

45 degrees in 10 minutes is cold. Put you settings here so we can have a look? Should probably be more aggressive

Hmm already aggressive enough hehe. On the straight, does the car still keeps accelerating till the end of the straight? or is it finished sooner?

It won't stop accelerating
Perhaps our track is to small
Waiting for my arbor for the tires to put on the truer so i can get the rears a bit smaller.
That should help the car to slow down a bit
Got any other suggestions?

smaller pinion helps as well

Otherwise remove some boost and turbo for better drivability. It seems you don't need maximum boost and turbo on that track. I ran 40-45 boost and 10-15 turbo when i still had my tekin. When going very low on the rollout the feeling of the car gets very odd.

Hi guys I am also thinking about using a tekin in my 12th but I have a 5.5. It is still 1s but my concern is that the esc is only a RS not the pro will take the mod motor in the 12th?

That's a fairly mild mod for 1s, it will work fine.
You should add a few more Tekin capacitors though.

It will run fairly cool, unless you are running boost with it.
Check the internal temp lights after 4m to be safe.

I've done this with one cap and worked fine, but 6-7 lights on the speedo temp reading. Two caps and it should be no problem at all as long as your gearing is OK.
