Default New Speedo

I'm looking at buying a new speedo for the sedan. I run 13.5 and 17.5 so the cooling issues are not there for me. I want absolute punch and top end. What have you RS owners been playing with to get the best of both worlds?

Also what were your initial thought on the speedo?

Is it considered better with the 180 firmware to run the high wind motors (13.5 and 17.5) in sensor only or hybrid mode?

Sensored only will yield better performance with those winds

I feel a little confused. I just bought an RS and RS pro. Should be here this week. All the terminology and info involved in these esc's. Do I need to be an electric genius to get these to work right? Who can I talk to to get help. I am at zip code 17086.

Victory,

No need to be an electrical genius. The basics are still the same. Gear a motor correctly and it will be fast. With the exception of stock motors motors have always had the ability of adjustable timing. With sensored technology that adjustment is not only on the motor but in the ESC.

Most of the talk you've read about of late is in regards of the new beta firmware version 189 (some have access to it, some don't). Since we don't have brush cuts and springs to play with anymore many of the tinkerers have moved over to the esc programming side of things to find an edge. Unlike some other ESCs on the market the Tekin has the ability to be fine tuned by the Hotwire software. This makes nice for those that like to try to squeeze every joule of energy out of the power plant we can get out of it.

miller tyme, thanks for the response.

Randy, thanks for hooking me up with the 1.89 software. I still don't think that I found the right gearing but was getting closer and closer by the end of the Novak race. I ended up finishing 5th in 17.5. 13.5 wasn't as favorable but the racing in that class was really close. Oh well, next time.

Have you tried disconnecting the sensor wire? I've had similar problems before when my sensor board went wrong. I know you tried another motor but maybe if the sensor cable is damaged it could do the same.

Tekin TQs the 4th round of the British Indoors Winter Series.

I used a Tekin RS pro, Redline 10.5 and Tekin Power Cell 3400 to take the TQ spot on sunday.

Just want to thank Tekin for their support throughout those years and the renewal of their confidence for 2009.

What chassis are you running it in? The only time I ever had a delay problem is with iether too much timing or bad sensor cable.

I used the exact same cable with a Nosram speedo the rest of the heats... so the sensor cable works...

Kraig,

Curious to hear what gearing / boost setup you ended up with. Down at The Track, I was gearing 2 teeth lower and had the boost at 8. Wasnt giving anything up on the straight, and out of a corner I could pull most cars due to my FDR advantage.
