Yes, your 17.5ss will be just fine with that speedo. You can run down to an 8.5 with the XBR.

Default XBR

Hi,
Could I run a 7.5 or 6.5 with a XBR if I was only using 4 cells (12th scale). Thanks

The limit on that speedo is an 8.5, so I guess that would be a no.

If you want an answer from Novak, go to the ask Steve Weiss thread and ask him, but I am guessing he will say the samething.

I've run a 7 turn "Light" motor on an original Super Sport and it makes race time (5-6 minutes) without thermalling. But that was off-road. I'm not sure what would happen on-road. And I do have a fan on the ESC.

(Yes, 7 turn - it is a custom modification - half 6.5 and half 7.5, with less wire than an "R" motor. The winding was calculated out to equal the resistance of the 8.5 but be a little "softer")
