Pinion question on a TC3 with a mamba 5700....HELP!
Ok. I don't want to burn this new motor so here's what I have. I'm running GP 3300's once everything will be setup. I have the mamba 5700 and need to know what pinion sizes I can go before that motor gets 200 degrees and fries. I'm running 48 pitch with a stock spur. I know what your going to ask me is what do you want in speed and torque. I just want to go at least 40 which I know I will and not burn the motor up. I have a 21, 24, 25 pinion now but it may be too high. What size do I need to get? I really need to get a set of pinions from(14 to 24) so I can have all the sizes. If anyone is selleng that, let me know!
Thanks |
start with the 21. how much space are you going to be driving in? open parking lot bashing or are you going to a track? it all depends on how much space you have. I would inverst in some smaller pinions, 16-19 may be appropriate for smaller spaces. run for 2-3 mins and check the motor temp.

small to med track. I'm thinking a 15 or 16

how long? 100 feet? the stock spur is a 72 so with a 21 the FDR is 8.57 (spur * drive ratio / pinion) which is fairly conservative so id think youll be fine starting there. I would get between a 16-21 just to be safe however.

The battery is important. I have a 19/72 combo. Tire spin is inevitable, really. 3S 5000 batt. Motor is de-tuned / retarded. Got to be haulin before you punch it.

I've got one AE Motorsports GP 3300 matched 6 cell(all 6 cell), 2 Orion Stick Pack GP 3300 packs, and hopefully a good used pack of Hurricaine 4200 matched soldered pack. I have a 16t pinion waiting at my LHS once my motor/esc comes in.

I passed up the opportunity to get a 15t pinion. I think thats too low.

I am going to swap out my ring gear next.
