Electric TC3 2 Speed

Hi all...

I have Novak's SS Brushless system in my car, and with the stock spur gear [72 teeth] and a 27 tooth pinion, I can beat allot of the gas cars, but the guys with taller gearing and two speed trannies are beating me once they get to 2nd gear.

Is there any way to modify the Nitro TC3's 2 speed to put it on my car?

My current idea is to find a way to mount the 2 speed clutch bell onto the motor shaft of the brushless with a really long set screw [or two, 180 degrees from each other] and then drop in the 2 speed and the Nitro TC3's drive shaft.

My other Idea involves the HPI 2 speed from an RS4...

If I can find a way to mount the 2 speed clutch bell to the electric motor's shaft, and also mount the motor in the center of the chassis, I would be able to use the front and rear drive shafts from an RS4, as well as the 2 speed itself. The hard parts of this second idea are (A) mounting the electric motor half-way up the chassis, (B) mounting the HPI 2 speed onto the chassis, and of course (C) putting the 2 speed clutch bell onto the motor shaft.

Any ideas? Has anyone done this?

It may sound like a cool idea... however, an an electric 2-speed doesn't work quite as well as you might think.... as the battery voltage goes down the 2-speed stops shifting..... It's just not very feasable..... learn how to beat them thru the twisties and you won't need the straight away speed......

use 7cells:D

And your voltage will drop off faster......

omg that is too sweeeeet

i wonder how future electric r/c is gonna be
i think this is the peak of chassis but 2 speed thats just insane

I heard from somewhere that that 2 speed runs around $150.

y y y why run a electric car against a gas car? let the gas guys cut the weeds!

It's fun to run against gas cars... take this as an example:

Friday before last, a relatively stock RS4 and I ran against each other.

After a 10 car difference between he and I [me winning, naturally], he said he'd be back this week with a better engine, etc.

This past friday, he showed up with $300 of new parts... and only lost by 5 cars.

THAT is why I run electric against gas!

sweet.

Thats sik! I saw one of those 2-speed kits for the TRF414M also. I gotta see that 2-speed in action now:tire:

Yeah, but I'll be running my RS4 this weekend...

It seems my Novak SS Brushless decided to throw its motor shaft... so I rebuilt it, but Novak needs to replace it, which will put my TC3 out of commission for a couple weeks.
