Interestingly both my brothers had more pull out of the corners than anyone they where near and neither ran above 80C all weekend. Owen was doing 70-75C with no fan on his motor. That is barely any hotter than the track temp was!
At least some people know what they are talking about. As you said gearing for Team Wave speedo's is nothing like that on SPX's or Tekins's with turbo. If anything the Team Wave speedo's work opposite to other "turbo" speedo's. A reasonably high rollout gives good speed and the turbo gives you great punch. Those who have used a Team Wave speed control with any success would know what I mean!

Ha ha ha .. this coming from the guy who overgeared and overtimed the motor and blew up the first ESC.

All I was saying is that all of these newer style ESC's need to be geared down. Even Troy acknowledges that. Otherwise you run into heat problems and the risk of destroying motors.

You dont want new drivers trying to gear like the older style ESC's otherwise there will be problems. Some drivers are not aware of this with the newer technology. Dont want them destroying things.

Hey guys, I have a RB50 on order and was wondering if anyone has a good starting point for esc setup and gearing running 17.5 and 13.5 touring car on a carpet track. Track sizes range from 36x80 to 48 x100. Motors are speedpassion.
Thanks for any advice.

Was looking at getting a RB-30 for my Kyosho RT5 but I heard some people were having problems with them in dusty conditions. Any response to this? Also, a couple places has your Rb-30's with setting card and free shipping. Will you guys match this if I was to order from your website?

start with turbo on drive profile 7 time shift 3 and gear 17.5 at about 49mm roll out starting point and for 13.5 start at 37mm rollout!! you can gear higher but just see how your motor temps are! but remember time shift controls your top end and the way the speed controller ramps up your throttle so if geared for speed you may want to turn down and if geared for infield you may want to turn up!!

Does this mean that we will be seeing firmware updates for RB30/50 any time soon?

Purchaed an RB-30 from rcmart a few weeks ago but i havent used it yet, just wondering what firmware will come on the esc. The original release or the updated firmware?

Will there still be developments for the 30/50 speedo's now the stock spec is out?

I've only had mine for a month, and a new once comes out? This blows . Does this mean the old RBs will not be able to get the "Twin Turbo" that the RB-S has due to a "hardware limitation"? If so, this makes the RBs obsolete.

There is a firmware 1.2 which has just general improvements over the 1.1 that comes with the current speedies. I don't believe its on the site yet.

You don't need the program box unless you want to upgrade software. Mine just sits in my pit box all the time collecting dust. Its very quick and easy to change settings on the ESC like the LRP speedie. Spec racers will basically just fine tune timeshift from track to track and thats about it which will take you all of about 15 seconds without having to unplug from the receiver.

Like others here I would have thought that the current ESC's would have been upgradeable to the new double turbo firmware otherwise what is the use of having a ESC with an upgrade function available

Max, can you confirm if the owners of the RB30/50 can or cannot upgrade to the new firmware

RB30/RB50 can't be upgraded to RB-S. RB30/50 has its own firmware which is different from RB-S.

Are you guys going update your motor line too? Is there going be a RB-S 17.5 combo? Be cool if there was.
