What Patrick mean is the motor is hand out by the race organizer, you can't use other brand of motor.

Patrick,
RR is a RPM base motor, try gear ratio of 6.0,and fine tune from there.

cheers

Jason, your gearing advice would be scary at best.

Tamiya actually made two RR type 23 turn motors. One was a chrome can that was more torque and the other was a gunmetal grey color which was suppose to be more RPM's . Last year we used the gunmetal type. Fred has been know to suprise us with a different motor,he says based on what they are overstocked with at the warehouse.:confu sed:
Soooooooooooooo, don't shocked if Fred pulls a fast one and brings the RZ type motors for us to use!
I'll try to post pictures of all the motors we've used. I think I have them all ,still?
Just my 2$

You can play around with brush and spring to get more out of your motor

Ok,for laydown,i use Reedy 767 Stock Motor Brush,for stand-up,i use Reedy 729 brush.
I always use 14 lb spring at positive and standard spring on Negative.

Try it,your motor will put out some power and rpm for you

hi imel!

basically standup brushes configured 23t produce more torque compared to laydown configured 23t that are RPMish..

both should do fine in racing. correct Gearing is the only way to achieve peak peformance.
