This weekend I ran my new LRP SPX with an LRP 17.5 Stock 1/12 racing, and it felt slower than my LRP Sphere Comp.
I was running an 83.5mm rollout on the Sphere Comp. Started the SPX with a 81.8mm rollout on Profile 6. Changed to profile 7 and dropped the rollout to 80mm and left if there for the day. The change from 83.5 to 80mm was only a 2-tooth drop on the pinion.
Question - On profile 7 with the SPX, should I be dropping the rollout even more?

my questions is: if the spx profile 8 we gear down compared to comp07 profile 8 does that mean that the spx has more topside rpm?
for 1/12 scale 17.5 how would you guys set a duo and a novak? As little motor timing as possible?

Which is better, increasing the profile number or dropping a tooth or two on the pinion gear?

increasing profile....if it was dropping pinions all the esc's would be just as fast as the spx...

Profiles 7 and 8 have a very noticeable rpm increase on the motor, but the only way to take advantage of it would be with fewer teeth on the pinion (lower rollout), allowing the rpm to increase.
So increasing the profile would be the ticket, but you can't take advantage of the higher profiles w/o lowering the pinion teeth.

Friends with SPX Competition Stock Spec speed controls...
1) Set punch to 8 with zero advance on the motor.
2) Turn on radio and car
3) Hold car up with no load
4) Go full throttle...for as long as you dare...to experience what revs the SPX is capable of doing. On my cars, it is totally scary!!!
After doing this a couple times, I was satisfied that the 8 punch setting on the SPX produces far more revs than I have ever experienced with my several other Spheres...for 17.5 and 13.5 stock motors. The revs were so excessive, my rubber and foam tires have actually been coming unglued from the wheels.
To take advantage of these revs, I am currently geared down 2-3 teeth on my pinions.
I do not see any significant difference in using any of the other punch settings on my SPXs. They seem to mimic my TC and 2007 ESCs. Setting 8 on the SPX is pure gold!

That old trick where you hold the brakes for 5 seconds to get a "boost" on your next launch? It appears to be no joke on this ESC. It must spin the motor up a 3x the RPMs. It'll be interesting to see how it feels on the track.

I cant seem to tell whether i have activated it or not as there isnt seem to be any obvious lights blinking to indicate whether it is on or off....

Am trying to wire an SPX to a Novak 21.5 and don't know what wires go where. The red and black I figured out. But to what positions on the motor (A, B, or C) do the blue, yellow, and orange wire connect to?

And if you are able to place the LRP BL ESC on your TC chassis with the wire connections facing towards the motor (rearward), you can cut them (Blue shortest/Yellow mid/Orange longest) to help you remember the order of how they should attach to your BL motor.
