Revive tired 33k GPs

If you can't get in more than 3000mah to your 33k GPs chances
are they're tired. Steps to follow to bring back to almost new
condition.

step 1: fully discharge to .85v/cell
step 2: tray them until lights go out
step 3: short the cells individually (not using a tray cuz some
of them have resistors and diodes that have auto
cut off.) for 30 min. to an hour ( batts will just get warm
and not hot) and let batts cool
step 4: As batts are cool individually zapp the cells several
times per cell using a hi volt zapper (200v+)
step 5: Charge battery (as a pack) using you normal procedure
then discharge at pref. at 20-30amps and your batts
are close to new. (it may false peak on 1st charge)

note: If you dont zapp them ave. volts will not improve.

TRY AT YOUR OWN RISK!

have you tried this

anyone build there own zapper before?

acloco 07-03-2003 07:31 PM

Umm....bad charger? Some chargers will not charge about a certain MAH......something to consider. What flavor of charger are you using??

zapp at 200V+!!

Who makes such a zapper....I am interested!:D

Calvin Ng 07-04-2003 10:31 AM

can you make your own zapper?

jpn 07-04-2003 11:01 AM

home made zapper

Tried making one myself. downloaded diagram from internet.
when i trigger it with a tester on it reaches about 200v. the
volts depend on capacitor you use. u can dowload diagram
from this site : http://www.electronichobbyist.net/pr...cad_zapper.htm

How many volts does the XIPP Xapper put out?

Calvin Ng 07-04-2003 07:40 PM

whats the diffrence between building one and buying one

UCHEATULOSE 07-04-2003 07:57 PM

whats the difference in building your own car or buying one built for ya? $$$$$$$$$$$$$$

xxip 3000dcx was 90 volts
xxip 3300dcx i think is a little over 100

you need a comercial grade zapper the sky is the limit! :spidey:

Randy Caster 07-04-2003 08:20 PM

What other zappers are there on the market?

Calvin Ng 07-05-2003 10:07 AM

batman is this proven to work. i havent tried my batteries yet to see if they lost any run time but is this proven to work

Calvin Ng 07-06-2003 11:00 AM

i just checked my gp's and there not getting woarse there way better then 3300's

i fully discharged it (not with a tray)

charged it with my millenium pro and it charged 3654mah into with one charge at 5 amps

anyone get this out of there gp's

MaverickRacing 07-06-2003 12:59 PM

The older and newer (as of February) GP3300s like to be discharged all the way down, put on an Integy or trinity discharge tray, and dead shorted.

I just bring mine down on 15 light bulbs, then one light bulb to finish it off. The I take a piece of wire and solder it to each of the battery bars to deadshort the pack.

This drops your IR and adds keeps the voltage, at the expense of runtime...Good for stock racing of 4 minute races.

Charge at as high as 7 amps, with your pack on a heating pad. Keep the pack on the heat pad until you put the pack in your car. This adds voltage to the pack, with no noticable loss in runtine. No change in IR from what ive seen.

I have 3300 GPs that go to 3400-3600 so I think it's fairly normal if you get a nice pack.
