Glad i found this thread! A few weeks ago i got a Pro 3 from EBay for £35. I have alsways liked a car that is a little different and when i won this i was well chuffed.
The car arrived pretty dirty and neglected, but after a good clean i was surprised to find alot of hop up parts fitted. The car has a woven carbon chassis (how do i tell if it HPI or a Hara chassis?)it also came with a front carbon upper deck, shock towers, Ti turnbuckles and MIP Shiny driveshafts (not purple
) and i think an updated motor mount. The car spins very freely so all in all i was pleased with the car!
It is tough finding out details about the car so i have a few questions... Why was this car so unpopular? It seemed very few (at club level anyway) were unable to get it to work. In 2002 Karl Marsden (UK HPI Driver) won some mod Nationals so it must have worked!
It is also interesting that the Losi team are now prototyping to good effect a rear motored Jrxs. The major difference now between the cars is the short wishbone design of the Jrxs compared to the long Pro 3 design...was the geometry of the Pro 3 an issue???
From holding my car it seems that a problem is the amount of weight at the very extremes of the car. There is a lot of plastic that weighs alot both front and rear, may be the alloy parts and a dremel will sort this out! Speaking of which does anyone have any pics of HB parts HB32P and HB29P? (alloy upper mounts i think) or HPI part 7200 (lower front mount) as i am wondering if they are a good hop up.
Lots of questions there
, i will put some electronics in her and post some pics up...hopefully get to the track as well!
