Lipo cars do not run with the NiMh cars though. The lipo pan cars are their own class and will eventually take over and NiMh will be phased out. Also the cars run lighter. 730g for 12th and 930g for WGT.

Oh cool. Gotta tell ya, 1s/17.5 sucks, kinda like a spec class. Zero punch. 1s/13.5 is fun though.
Thanks guys

please allow me to share this proverb......"a wise man will take the opportunity to learn from the mistakes of others because life is too short to make all the mistakes on your own"

Size only affects gearing
Surface and course layout determine what you need to do to get it hooked up. The level of grip and the amount of bumps and sharp turns. That all makes a difference . just go out there and run a few times and change one thing at a time and I bet you come up with a good setup yourself.

Default Lipo Setups

Hey, Team Associated Hotshots! Blackstock, Levanen, and your types.

Since the R5 is about to own half of the 1/12th scale market, let's get some lipo setups posted on the company website. I want to see an outdoor asphalt setup and a carpet setup.

Get on it, or I'm gonna go buy a SpeedMerchant

Word.

My car after a few months of running got tweaked. Yet I never figured out exactly how I fixed it. I just unattached the rear pod from the chassis and then attached it back after verifying the chassis and pod was slill flat (which they was). I didn't replace/change a single part.

I was wondering if anyone had any opinions on what could had been tweaked?

The center pivot ball has some play in it .. perhaps during a crash it got off center and you realigned it.

Ok, I just picked up an R5. Was gona ask about a lipo setup but looks like either everybody is hush hush or they just dont have one yet.

The car I picked up is a bit out in left field as far as setup goes. .022 front spring with gold center shock (stock?) and silver side spring (stock?) 20wt in side shock and 30wt in center. Purple frt tires with dbl pink rear.

First 4 mins the car turns like crazy. A bit quick for me but it does what I tell it to. After 4 mins the pack and tires go off and Im looking at about .5 drop or more in lap times. First off Im gona drop the front spring to .020 and up the side spring to blue. Next is softer tires to see if they can hold on for the whole 8mins. Then 30wt in side shock to slow the transition down a touch.

Not sure if you guys want me to post what I find. If you do let me know. Im running on med to high grip carpet. Right now with no PT im at 689 grams. Im sure that when I get one in there it will be at the ROAR min weight. Also runing no booster or rx pack with a gtb 4cell speedo.

Are you running lipo now, or are you going with 4-cell? I've been running lipo in my R5 for several months and it's working great. The setup you describe is definitely not for lipo.
