Most people for brushless 13.5 or 17.5 run a 78 or 76 tooth spur gear, any bigger spur and there is not enough room for gearing properly....

Hey all, I got a 12R5 last week, just thought I would share my findings after the first race day with it.. The kit went together very well, I thought the new front end built up very well, nice and straight and fairly slop free right out of the box, do not overtighten the front caster blocks to the mounts as you can distort them and then the caster is different left to right... shocks built up with no problem, feel good after a day of running, I did end up putting a screw through the fixed end of the side dampening shock,to hold the top deck on the standoff, as the set screw was not holding well, and the stand off threads in the tube seemed a little weak, a screw is much more secure... I could NOT build or shim the rear axle to be under legal width, and be centered in the chassis, with CRC rims, probably gonna have to cut down the left side hub's shoulder a little to get proper width and centering...
Overall the car worked well, ran it at the first round of the LSRCC Superior race, did TQ and win just barely, the track changed all day, so chased setup a little, ended up with black side springs, didn't have any green side springs, feel they would be the best there... car took a few VERY hard hits because of radio probelms, one hit was hard enough to pull the endebell off the 19t motor, and split the body, but chassis and front end held up great, overall very impressed, I have always been a T-bar car guy so it's a different feel, I think I will like it!

I was looking at some pictures of the two Associated/Yokomo 12R5's that we all know won the worlds and what caught my eyes were the black wheels... After a closer look they were nothing like JACO or Parma wheels. I visited the website from Yokomo and there on the RC-12L4Y the same black wheels were mounted. My guess is that these are Yokomo wheels/tires since the Asso/Yokomo drivers were the only ones driving these wheels...

Now I couldn't find these wheels on the US & Japanese Yokomo site anywhere... Does anybody here know where to get these cruel looking black wheels???

Hey thanks!!!

But this means I have to glue my own tires because what I understand that these are just the rims??? Is there any info on the diameter of these rims? And any ideas on where to get these wheels??? Online stores anywhere?
