You can try and maybe get lucky... and you can also turn your $85+ motor and $150+ speed controller into a charred mess, your choice. All it takes is a pair of $15 plastic calipers and a chart that was already offered to you along with about 1 minute max. No computer required. There is no one at our track that takes a computer to the track for the purpose of calculating anything.

btw, good luck. From the sounds of it, you will need it.

Is there a website teaching how to compute roll out?

You can use this following link to a gear ratio program to plug in numbers or ask/PM one of the guys that commented of using a spreadsheet to e-mail it to you.

http://www.rcracing.com/Gear_Ratio_Program_1100.cfm

I have used the rollout method combined with motor temping to reach my goal.

Its well established that there are numerous ways to calculate roll out. For me those PDF files and spread sheets are never where I want them so here's my method. I have a cheapo calculator in my box with the formula "Dx3.14xP/S" written in sharpie across the front. D=tire diameter, 3.14 is Pi, P=pinion and S=spur. tire dia x Pi x pinion teeth divided by spur teeth=roll-out

You can spend all day chasing the right gear ratio as your tires wear or you can just figure it out in this simple manner.

If you are math challenged then just run rubber tire touring car with the masses

You're right, we do go ballistic, especially when things really are that stupid.

And, as someone who doesn't live in your country, I'm not convinced you have the last bit right, either...

This is one of the best explainations I've seen of roll-out yet.

OK I understand how to do the math on roll out but, how do I know what roll out I need? I.E I have worked out my roll out to be 38.24. Where should I aim to be?(in the 40's?) does it depend on the size of the track and how tight it is. I have been told that I should always try to achieve 1-1.

I'd like to know a roll out on a medium size, technical carpet track.
I will run either a 5.5 or a 4.5 Novak motor with 4 cell.

2nd. question:
Are there any other ride height adjusters available besides the one that are
included in the kit? number?

You can get the IRS ride height adjusters for the rear which allow you to adjust in 0.5mm increments.
