This new chassis seems to carry more corner speed, so I think it needs more spring to hold it up than the 5.1

Only had 4 runs with it, was racing 13.5 boosted with the old chassis, and testing the new chassis in between rounds.

Much more to come, don't really feel in tune with this car yet, after driving the 5.1 for about 2 years now.

With the new chassis, even running a little wide on the corners it still ran 3 consecutive 9.9 secs laps, for track record.

So far I would characterize the 5.1 as more cut and thrust, with the 5.2 being more of a corner speed demon.
But there are so many little settings to play with yet, I believe the 5.2 will be better in every way with time.

Looking forward to running it at Norcal in mod on that high speed paved track !
Great looking car, what brand are the tie-rods/ends? I run the stock associated ball ends and they get so loose?

Thanks.

Those are the new AE tie rod ends.
They are a bit snug, I find you have to pop them on and off a few times to loosen them up.
Associated Factory Team Turnbuckle Eyelet TC6 (14)

The tie rods are just old AE stuff from the B4 era. (no pun intended0

Gonna try it tomorrow for the first time. So I'll let you know. Only bad thing is the layout of the track has changed. So I hope I can tell within one day.

My 5.1 is over two years old so it made sense to update the chassis. However, if you want a new one you could save a few dollars by getting the conversion and all the parts to build a car or get the 5.1 kit for $230 and the conversion for $95.

Anybody know if there's going to be a new kit that includes the new chassis?

Also is the 12R5 front end the same as the 12R5.1?

I believe all the changes between the 5 and the 5.1 were in the pod to accommodate brushless motors, I'm pretty sure the front end is all the same.

That looks really nice mate, but I just noticed the blue edges (where you sand and superglue)!

That looks really nice, what did you use to do that?

Cheers mate.

First sand the car, as normal.
Then aply two layers of Faskyblue Faskolor (I used a Antenna tube, and made a 45deg cut, so it works like an old pencel)
Then aply 1 layer of really thin CA (I used Xenon Tire CA)
Then, just race ;-)

Regards Robert

Tried it today. The track was open for the first time, with a new layout... so no grip. Started at blue center, and blue side (like last year) with the tires we used last year. Only difference was the body. Switched from BA004 Bomb R to AMR (to start easy ;-), and haven't painted a BA004 yet)
Car felt good, but really understeerd. Needed to soak the fronttires more. With the old 5.1 I soaked for 25% And now I was already at 40%.
Chaged to gold center, and silver side, car got more and more steering. Last battery I even changed to green. This seems to be the fastest.
The car feels like it's carrying more cornerspeed then the old one, and responds really wel. But then again the track has a new layout, so I can't compair any laptimes.

Next weekend I'll be testing more.

Regards Robert
