You'd be fine with all of that except you'll probably want to go with a Tekin RS for the ESC. The Tekin is the best ESC out right now.

You might want to think about using a different servo. I remember reading in the 12 scale thread to not use a Hitec servo. If I remember right the Hitecs don't center everytime and in 12 scale its causes a problem.

Battery should be good especially at their sale price of $30.

If you want cream on the crop servos, get the KO-951. People are even using that servo in their TC's. If you want to go budget, look around used. The futab s9650 is priced right for even new.

You won't go wrong with a Tekin. Make sure to get the hotwire.

As far as motors go, they are spec'd so good. *MOST* motors are really close in power. Of course there is always the chance that you get a better motor than someone else, but that is with any brand. The key is to gear and set your ESC right. I personally prefer the ballistic series can I can get any wind I want for $40 new.

does any one know a list of esc's that can fit under a protoform body? my cheap havoc esc does not fit. its to tall. and the mamba max (not the pro) fits but the body has to sit on the esc. and i kinda wanted a little bit of space in between.

Here is a link to the heatsink for the Havoc 1s. Its milled down version so it should fit under a 12 scale body. I don't know if it fits all Havocs but I think it should.

Hi all,

I have picked up a RC12R5.1 and built it yesterday. I have a problem with tight pivot balls (tried the doctors they suggested a cream).
When I popped them into the arms they are really stiff to move. I spoke to CML (UK Distributors for AE) and they are sending me out some new arms see if that solves the issue.
I thought about it and tried the pivot balls from my CRC 3.2 and they fit fine, don't know if they are a different size to what should be used?
Anyone else had these issues? Anyone use/recommend the IRS pivot balls?

Cheers
Chris

I'm using the IRS ones indeed. No problem with them.

Best regards

Robert

everything from chassis, rear pod, frontend especially has been redesigned. look nothing like the old r5.1! I would just invest and buy the kit rather than a conversion
