Default Fitment

Will the 5000 pack fit the TA05MS or is the 4000 a better fit???

I can't be sure since I don't have one(I've only had the 415MSX & currently have a 416, & have had the tub-chassis TA05), but from a pic I saw it looks like it might be ok with either. But to be sure, try measuring how much room you have from the bottom deck to the top deck(if you have at least 24.5mm, then you should be fine for both the 4000 & 5000). However, I'm not sure on that, but I do have a friend who has one, & I'll see if I can get him to take some measurements next weekend, we might be able to figure it out by next Sunday.....

If your using a connector I reccomend you attache them like the attached picture. If your not using connectors just clip them on the wires.

Danny,
I'm not sure if you have answered this q already, but here goes...do you have any plans on releasing a saddle pack version?

Hey Danny and everyone else i just wanted to drop in and say after several weeks of running my 4000 28c around 15 times a week it still cycles out virtually identical to the box. The only differences are .2 lower IR and 1 second more runtime(so it is only getting better). This is by far the best lipo i have run to date

I had the same results to report. We tested SMC 5000 packs and the cars with mod 3.5 motors were much faster than our previus 20C packs and 3.5 motors. The difference is like going from a 5.5 to a 3.5. Much more rip and power/speed.

The only other cells that match SMCs power are Trackpower 4900 25C cells. Those are just as good couldnt notice a difference between the two. BOth the Trackpower and SMC cells made the cars just ROAR and rip with really good acceleration and speed. Great power!!! Great job SMC!!!

Seems to depend on the pack. With the Orion 20C packs(their 3200 & 4800, for example), my car has felt a bit off, less punchy compared to a good Sub-C NiMh pack, in my car I'd lose .1-.2 sec. per lap, but when I strapped in the SMC 28C 5000 pack, I couldn't tell if there was ANY dropoff, feels every bit as strong as my best NiMh's, & my lap times bear that out, in my car I've gotten lap times as good or better than with any pack I've used. So while I won't claim it's stronger than NiMh's, I will say the new packs are at least as good, & since they run so cool, you can literally use ONE pack all day, instead of needing 3-5 packs like you normally would with NiMh's....

Bob- I have been running lipo the last 3 weeks, and will not run anything else!!! The new lipos when heated to 140 degrees, are faster than any nimh pack I have ever run, and you can see it on the track...I had to change my gearing I had so much more rpm!

I have several runs on both my packs.

On the box,
Pack 1;
415 seconds 7.34v
4034 mAh 7.1 IR

Pack 2;
409 seconds 7.35v
3976 mAh 7.2 IR

Last nights cycle was,

Pack 1;
422 seconds 7.32v
4102 mAh 7.5 IR

Pack 2;
416 seconds 7.33v
4044 mAh 7.5 IR

I will cycle them again tonight and post my numbers. I'm gonna keep track of them every week and post up my numbers. See how things come out over the next several months. I am using a GFX lipo edition with 2.90 software. 35amp discharge with 4amp charge (4000mAh setting) and 180 seconds cool down. I discharge the pack down to 6v before the Cycle starts. No pack warming. All done at room temperature for the Cycle readings to keep consistency.
