10.5 will be no problem at all for 5 minutes. Mod? Hmmmm I can't really say. Depends on what motor and track size. What mod are you talking about? 2.5 on a 1/8th scale track??

I just have to say: "I love my SMC 4000 lipo"...........Man, do they Ripped?...I have never have my car go as fast as this last weekend. I own 3 4800 orion platinums and by far my 2 new SMC's are faster. I couldn't be happier! Thanks

Both. Temp of pack at the start and end of each cycle. That tells us if the pack was started at an unusually high temp to try to fudge the #'s, and if the pack got "too" hot at the end. (That is purely subjective of course, but it's common information with this type of testing. Not everyone would give it a pass if it's hitting 180* for example....)

The 4000 28c SMC lipo packs are nice, the increased power is noticeable. Unfortunately they still can't compare to the 4600 30 - 35c nihm batteries that everybody races with. Increase the c rating, then we will be on a fair playing feild. Thats why guys are pushing their lipo packs to the limit right now. I haven't tried overcharging but i wonder if there is a noticeable difference and if discharging the packs at 30 to 35 amps helps. I simply charge the battery at 4 amps and run it until i notice a loss of power then charge it again sometimes balancing the pack in between. With this method they cant compare to nihm. But i really like lipo, so can you guys make one for guys that want to compete on a nice level.

Actually our 5000 pack will be closer to a NiMh pack than our 4000 as it has a better voltage curve with a bit lower IR than the 4000.
The reason why Lipos are having a tough time keeping up with NiMh is because a Lipos charge stops at 8.40 volts while NiMh charge and peak at 9 volts.
I think that if racers would warm up a 5000 and find the proper gearing that it could compete with NiMh. Time will tell if this will be true.

Thanks for the info. I will try a 5000 pack and experiment with gearing. This could perhaps be the little extra that im looking for. Thanks Again!!!
I haven't changed the location of my wires, although i wanted too. I think SMC said they had to do it this way due to the increased power, so im not sure. But somebody is probably doing this.

We will release a heating bag for our Lipos but it will take a bit of time for us to release it.
You should try a heating pad. You should charge your pack then place it in a heating pad a place it in your car as soon as your ready to race it so you can use the pack when it's warm.
