Tokyo hobbies Optional Parts (T.O.P.) would like to announce that they have entered into a contract with Josh Cyrul. Josh will represent T.O.P. as a driver and engineer.

Masato and Vincent Yip of T.O.P. Racing say: “We are extremely happy that Josh has decided to race for us. Not only is he a world class driver, but also a respected inventor and innovator. We are dedicated to making an impact in the R/C industry and we feel Josh is the right person to lead us.”

I want to personally welcome Josh to the team. We sent him a car 5 days before the Snowbirds for testing and critique. Within having the kit for a couple hours he was already sending us build updates. The following day we were receiving updates on his testing. These updates were not one sentence emails, but rather lengthy emails regarding technical aspects of the car, results of testing, what he liked, and what he thought could be better. So far he says he’s very happy with the car, but I’ll let him tell you that for himself.

I’ve never worked with Josh before this, and from what I can tell so far he is dedicated and passionate about our industry. His engineering knowledge about touring cars is second to none. We are very fortunate to have him and will utilize his engineering talents to produce the best products for the racer.

I can't add much to what E.J. said, Josh is a "Pro" in every sense of the word.

Welcome to the team, Josh!

Congrats to Josh......maybe TOP can fly him out to Norcal one day this summer so that you can have some help in mod once all the homies start coming out. That would be fun to the 100th power.

I was fortunate to watch him build and test the car.

First off, I just wanted to thank everyone at T.O.P. Racing for all the help and effort. It was only a few days before the race and I was a little weary of getting the car and getting up to speed quick enough. Vincent, EJ and Michael all worked quickly to get everything to me and from there I was able to do some testing here but nothing near as much as I would have liked to have had going into one of the largest events of the year. Overall, I was very happy going into the race and I felt that we had the oppertunity to have a good showing.

At the event, it was definatly a rough start as the track immediatly had super high traction which I had no chance to test the car on. I struggled the first 1-2 days trying to find a safe set-up that I could work with as the car just had so much steering!! Towards the end of practice I had found a pretty good set-up but I broke the left front castor block on the last run of practice. This was a major screw up as I put on castor block that I didn't check which was a 6 degree instead of the 4 degree that I had been running. Needless to say, this wasn't found until after the 3rd round of qualifying.

In the 4th round, the car had a pretty bad understeer (due to compensating the set-up for the castor block) in 19T so I just barely missed the final. I made an adjustment for Mod and the car was really good but unfortunetly, the speed control was letting go (at the time I thought it was the motor) so the car was off pace power wise and it slowed the last 1-2 laps costing me the final. This left me to the B-main bump in both where I was able to adjust the set-up a little more for 19T and race my way into the final. In Mod, the car was great but the speedo said it was not to be as it was ok for a few laps then went into what felt like turbo lag and then hung in 1/4 throttle (neutral position moved) before it finally just stopped working. Dissapointing really as I felt the set-up was finally right where I could have raced up in the top 5 in the finals. The 19T main was tough as with a new speedo the car was definatly much faster (I guess it was hurting me in that class also) but a few crashes an body tucks put me scrappin' for positions in the back of the pack.

Overall, it was a great weekend for being the first event with the car. I was super happy with having no problems with tweaking and with the way the car reacted to changes. I'm definatly looking forward to the up and coming events to better show what the car can do!!

Thanks again to everyone at T.O.P. Racing!!

Josh - Congrats to you and Top Racing USA. I'm sure you will be a valuable asset to the Top R&D and race team. EJ sent a car to me and it's been pretty damn good right out of the box. I can only imagine how great the car is gonna be with your input!

As a note: along with the sublte geometry/design changes and what not, can you please add some of the "how to make the A-main", do's and don'ts; Printed right on the side of the box. This is what most of us need  The car will take care of itself :)

EJ - Send me a T-shirt and some stickers.

See you all at Jonesboro in June :D

P2 - I think the first item on the "How to make the A Main" will be "Be sure to use the same degree castor blocks on both the right and left side...lol...

EA - Thanks!! Great running down there with the 1/12 car... Now all we have to do is get you in a TC ride. :sneaky:

Ridge - I'm off to Ft. Myers for some nitro racing next week and then I'm back home. I may be heading off to the SMC/Jaco race over at Fastcats at the end of the month and from there to the Carpet Nats....
