Discharge confusion
I am al little confused about the information how to discharge
my NiMH sub-C cells. ( intellect 4200 WC ) Til now I discharged til 0.9 v. each cell ( Team Wave ) On a promo movie at DHI Cup ( Dennmark Europe ) Osar Janssen spoke about discharging to 0 v. each cell. At first instance is thought this was an mistake, but the story goes that some cells are not empty at 0.9v. Anybody some usefull information ? |
From what I have been told by numerous people is to not discharge NIMH cells below .09v. I have heard that batteries that have been stored for a long time can be dead shorted (taking down to .00v) to help wake them back up but I wouldn't recommend it.
I have always taken my cells down to 0.9v and they are going strong for over a year now. |
yea, i was a little confused with that as well, he said to zero it and to charge it after that without storing.
Point 1 confusion was = do you really zero it? Point 2 = do you really charge it right after you zero it? i thought you are suppose to leave it to let the chemicals settle before charging, which is somewhat 2-3hrs? |
All the major matchers are giving the advise not to discharge below 0.9v, some say 1.0v. If you're to sotre the batteries for a period longer than 2 weeks, it is recommended to put half the capacity in them.
Most matchers have a 'battery care' section on their web site. F. |
