FF03 appears to be using narrower wheel hexes to other cars like the FF01/FF02, and there is still another 2mm of axle to fit locking nuts to, and you can go wider still if you use the serated wheel nuts, then you have the option of offset wheels to widen things more.
I have picked up an HPI 200mm Ford Mondeo BTCC (yr 2000) for half price, so will need to widen mine to fit that shell.
Place the Tamiya Vectra shell on it and the shell appears on the narrow side, meaning the shell would have to sit higher, or did we really run shells that high in the old days?

So that means a 190mm is a narrower body then the 200mm at the wheels. You need a bigger offset wheels for the 200mm body is that correct.

Or longer axles. Tobee sells 4mm offset axles for TL01/FF02/M03 that will fit. That makes it 8mm in total wider. Then you have 3racing with 2mm wider hexes. Added togheter that makes it 12mm wider. No problem making it 200mm then.

What's the better wheel for the FF01 I've seen 24mm wheels and 26mm the 26mm has either 1 degree offset or 3 degree offset. I'm trying to get a set of BBS for my Volvo body. Does the 24mm mean a narrower wheel and the same tire as the 26mm will fit it or is the wheel circumference smaller by 2mm.

You are absolutely correct. I just got the Clio today and I turned the shock tower block around and it makes the car a longer wheelbase chassis. In fact when you take it apart you can see they made a second slot just to lengthen the wheelbase. So thank you NiMo you where correct on this one.

Here is the FF01 with the Williams Renault Clio this is the short wheelbase and the chassis is in mint condition no breaks scratches or dings. The second photo is the FF01 with the longer wheelbase and a GTI on the chassis. SO NiMo was correct the car need no special mods just a plain turn around of the rear shock tower.

FF03 is even easier to go from long 257 to medium 245 wheelbase, just remove 4 screws, move rear unit to forward holes and replace the 4 screws.

I would love to have an FF03 but I don't have anywhere I can use/race it, at our track most people run 4WD cars. And for me to dish out $180+ so I can take it to the parking lot and drive it a few times just can't justify spending the money on it. I just wanted an FF01 at the right price and I'm glad I got this so cheap cause I have tons of parts from my TA01 Celica and I can use the spare chassis and front and rear a arms not that I need it cause everything on this car is in mint condition. I just got a full set of Ball bearings so that's the next hop up, then some brushless motors I have a 2400KV and 3000KV motor coming I wanna see which give me the best bang for my buck without striping the gears.

Go too hot with the motor and it becomes a handful.
Back when we raced them, we tried a few motors and opted for the 27T Stock (was 36º and sealed back then), but these days you have many more options.
Do take note of case wear around the idler gear area, this is noticable by extra gear noise, not that it slows the car, just sounds loud.
And if you can locate it, get the motor heatsink unit, as it wraps both sides of the motor mount area so keeps the motor firmer.
Tricks I did with mine was to place a thin shim in the diff to cause a little slip (not much), and to place F1 front springs inside the rear shocks on the shaft between the case and the piston, this helped to lift a rear wheel in corners and keep heat in the loaded wheel.

Thanks for the info NiMo. I already found a heat sink on the way for twenty dollars and a set of aluminum dampers for twenty five. So I'm trying to keep my cost low on this and as I said I will not race this car. I have a few Mini's I wanna race, I'm trying to start a mini class at our track. I might even get the Tamiya 18T brushless motor or another 2230KV motor since I can use the other motors for other cars. But I think the 2400KV motor is going to be just right and I opted for the ball bearing upgrade also.

Here is the GTI fitted onto the FF01 chassis. I used chrome rims for it makes the car stand out, I installed full ball bearings and waiting for a few extra parts. I got two motors on order a 2400KV and 3000KV motor. this car will not be raced since its vintage, I will only run it in the parking lot now and then.
