what is the benefit to a belt driven vs a gear driven FWD car? (like the FF2014)

Just smoother acceleration?

**Other than it not being a PITA working on a gear driven

For me we race indoor on carpet in the winter. We can and do get a lot of snow, which means everything outside gets covered in sand and gravel. I have picked up many a small rock in my gears on my tc from the carpet. If the other cars had inclosed gearboxes i might have considered them. Belt drive is easier to take a small rock. Also it seems the MTS FF Pro is winning everything when it comes to FWD tc racing in Asia. So it helps to go with a winner.

just curious.. an MTS roller and a set of basic replacement arms, hubs, driveshafts... standard stuff to keep in your track toolbox
whats that set you back financially? 300-350usd?

the slight bend in the top brace... think there is too much there? will it affect the car?
the plastic nuts might be too tall?

I bought my kit and parts right from the source right from Race-opt. Which turns out to be Team Powers.

Send Andy Tse an email at

enquiry@rc-explorer.com

He will sell you the parts directly, the price is reasonable on all the parts.

They are really nice and helpful at race opt. I would suggest though when you do order, make sure to order all the part you need I needed to order a new belt, and the belt costed something like 3 dollars, i payed around 32 dollars for shipping hehe
When that is said, tested the car again yesterday. Had a small confrontation with the wall, the wall won the argument, so i had to change one of the front arms. My fault
Running it on 13.5 stock, and i am now very close to keeping up with the other cars that was there yesterday. ( X-ray T4 cars ) I experimented a little with changing out the shocks that comes with the car. I tried X-ray and Tamiya shocks. Both works like a sharm. For Tamiya you would need to change out the shock screws ? Those that keeps them fasted to the car
Personally i felt that car was lifted to a whole new level with either of these shocks. It simply was running a lot more smoother. ( i will not rule out that this is just all in my head hehe ) Anyway, will try to take some video this weekend. I am not sure i am allowed to post picture yet on the forum, there seem to be a minimum requirement for that.
On a side note, i changed the spur that came with the kit. I am now running a 64p 102 with a 44pinion. 04 Tamiya.
The oil in the diff that comes with the kit need to be changed. It becomes quite lose after driving it. Not quite sure what velocity it has, but i would guess between 100000 and 300000. Will be trying 1 million this weekend. The race opt guys suggested 2.5 million in a mail to me last week.
Tons of testing still remains I must say though, this is such a fun and very fast car I really can't wait to hear how the sakura is on the track, and how it handles.
