Default My LE

Today on NorCal's new CRC carpet track, I got to break-in my Gen-X 10 that has been upgraded with the LE conversion kit. To say the least, I was impressed with Dumper's/Hupo's setup from the 2010 IIC. TQed and finished second to noted Xray driver Tim Copp. Whereas Tim's usual thing is to leave me in his dust, my LE was a solid contender in qualifying the the race. I finished 3-4 seconds back and my fast lap was only .03 seconds behind...Wow!

Because it was our Turkey Shootout, Tim won the turkey and I got the pumpkin pie.

My thanks to CRC for this fantastic WGT car and sharing the setup information to make it so easy to drive...fast!

Still Bill

Default Outdoor Asphalt Setup

OK, had my dreaded gremlin come back to haunt me on the weekend.
For those that don't know, I race on a very large outdoor asphalt track, with no additives allowed.
My car is a Gen-X10, and I run a Tekin RS and Tekin 13.5 on 2S Lipo.
Added turbo and a lot of timing on the weekend for a laugh (was racing a
7.5 and 6.5). Now, the car was faaaaast. When I was up to speed it drove great, kept up with the 7.5 on straights, and was a lot of fun.
My real problem was the low-speed hairpins (2 of them). When the car got below a certain speed (walking pace nearly) mid-corner, it would just spin. This was under very little deceleration, and the throttle was nowhere to be seen.
One idea I had was that the side springs are too stiff, or damper tubes too soft, and the car was "springing" back causing unloading of the rear outside wheel. I was going to try softer side springs to allow more roll, and also heavier centre shock oil to reduce rear-front weight shift, and increase lateral shift.
Any ideas?

This is what my set-up is:
OA weight 1120 grams (1115legal limit here)
Exceed Purple front tires, 57mm
Exceed Pink rear tires, 57mm
Ride height 6.5mm all round

FRONT
Long wheelbase
Medium track width
1mm droop
Red springs
Caster 1 shim forward
zero reactive caster
1 camber
Steering arms square, on Kimbrough medium servo saver

REAR
15.5lb Centre spring
30wt oil, shock 2nd hole from top
8000wt damper tubes
White side springs
approx 1.5mm droop

Think I may have figured it out. Recently rewired my ESC, and the motor wires are tight. I'm guessing that is stopping the rotation of the chassis and unloading one of the rear wheels. That would explain the inconsistency too I think.

What does "Upper Arm Height - Raised" as described in Hupo's 2010 IIC setup mean?

It's an option part that raises the upper hinge pin. It reduces camber gain. I think it started as an oval part...

Hope to see you in Vegas next Oct...

After looking at it, it looks like it is just a spare hinge pin cap placed below the inner hinge pin and then secured with longer screws. I could be wrong though...

Absolutely the Protoform Alfa Romeo Sophia for me; but, I honestly never tried the Vette or Aston Martin bodies.

I have an unpainted Aston Martin you can have. Doubt I will ever get around to trying it.

Has anyone tried the Aston Martin? I've been looking for a general performance comparison of the two and can't find one. Just thread of people complaining how it looks like a doorstop or a wedge of really fast cheese

I recently swiched to the db9 from the sophia and like it more. The db9 gives more front down force and improved steering and also gives the car a more overall planted feeling imo (sophia feels more nuetral). Im not a fan of the wedge look but i like the feel of the body.
